Luco Monopoli Obituary
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Ann M. (Dowd) Monopoli; two sons, John R. Monopoli and his wife Denise of Worcester and Luke Monopoli of Celebration, FL; four daughters, Patricia A. Lewis and her husband David of Danielson, CT, Linda M. Wilson and Lisa Monopoli, both of Worcester and Marie T. Monopoli of Winchendon; two brothers, Nicholas Monopoli and his wife June of Charlton and Giacomo Monopoli and his wife Pamela of Las Vegas, NV; three sisters, Elizabeth Serra and her husband Robert of North Grafton, Rose Paldino and her husband Donald and Ann Montiverdi and her husband Anthony, all of Worcester; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A son, Lee M. Monopoli, died in 2008.
Luco was born on May 5, 1930 in Worcester, a son of Giacomo and Anna (Fiorentino) Monopoli, and was a lifelong resident of Worcester. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade High School and attended Anna Maria College in Paxton. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He was retired from the Worcester Police Department Vice Squad and was a member of the Mass. and Southern Mass. Police Associations, the Italian American Police Association, the Worcester Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Teamsters Local 170.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 3rd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 4th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. George's Church, 40 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.

RIP Uncle Luke...lost but never forgotten...to my cousins and the Monopoli family I am so for your loss. Another Angel in Heaven, until we meet again. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered "come with me" With tearful eyes we watched and saw you pass away. JOHN AND MONOPOLI FAMILY, I KNOW THE SORROW YOU ARE BEARING, AS I AM, FOR THE LOSS OF LUCO. WE FIRST MET ON LINCOLN STREET IN A SNOW STORM. LUKE WAS STUCK WITH HIS PLOW ACROSS FROM STATE MUTUAL. (lIKE 1966.) WE THEN BECAME FRIENDS ON THE WPD AND RODE TOGETHER FREQUENTLY. LUKE AND I NEVER HAD A BAD WORD FOR ONE ANOTHER. As tears roll down my face
I can't begin to tell you how taken back I was when I spotted Luke's passing. Luke was my very best friend. I just went thru my 3rd major operarion in seven mohths and sadly I will not be able to attend. I will pray for Luke daily. I love you all.
