Marion Allen Obituary

Marion Allen

West Brookfield - Marion Allen of West Brookfield passed away on September 21, 2014. She leaves behind her beloved son, Todd; her friend and daughter-in-law, Tina; her best friend, Susan Lyons; her three grandchildren, who were much loved and terribly spoiled by their Grammy, Marnique, Tia, and Dylan; and her dedicated companion, Steven Bisset, who as she was so fond of saying did everything for her.

Marion was born to Cataldo and Allison (Milligan) Palmieri on December 6, 1943 and graduated from North Brookfield High School. She later received a degree from Boston College in Chemical Engineering and went on to earn her Masters. Marion owned and operated Aquatic Plastics in West Brookfield for many years. Upon retiring she did a stint as a substitute teacher at North Brookfield High School where she loved being around the students.

Marion was a voracious reader. Her love of books was so great that she taught speed reading and was asked to recommend book purchases to the local library. She also loved music and in over a decade never missed an opportunity to attend the Jazz Festival at Tanglewood with her three dear friends, Sue, Daphne and Sue. She loved to travel and over the years spent time in Aruba, St. Kitts, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Some of her fondest memories were of the times she spent at the Palace in Punta Cana with her family, her great friend the Prince Charles Mallozzi and Jack & Sue Amidio.

Marion was an avid golfer. She was a founding member of Quail Hollow where she loved to spend time with Debbie, Gary, and the whole gang. She was infamous for her tippy toe waggle and she enjoyed nothing more than her golf outings with the girls. She had a list of friends too long to mention them all but she will be especially missed by Jackie, Nana, Jean, and Sharon and Tim Sr. Marion was a strong, loving, independent woman, with an amazing ability to laugh at herself and always see the sunny side of life. She battled and beat breast cancer with a grace and humor that we will never forget. She was one of a kind, irreplaceable, and we will miss her for the rest of our lives.

A celebration of Marion's life will be held on Saturday, October 11,2014 at 2:00PM at Quail Hollow Country Club Old Turnpike Rd. in Oakham. We hope that you will join us in remembering Marion in the way that she would have wished. Pillsbury Funeral Home 44 Gilbert St. North Brookfield is directing arrangements.
