Mary F. Moran, 87

Shrewsbury - Mary Frances Moran, 87 of Shrewsbury passed away September 2, 2018 of an acute illness at UMass Memorial Hospital In Worcester.

She was born on January 26, 1931 to Frances H. McCaffrey of Ontario and John J. Penny of Nova Scotia Canada.

Mary Frances attended St Anne's Academy and Marycliff Academy in Arlington Ma. She received her BA from the College of the Sacred Heart in Newton Ma now merged with Boston College and a RN from the School of Nursing at Mass General Hospital.

Mary Frances married Francis E. Moran in 1955 and they had four children. They were married for fifty six years until his passing in 2011.Mary Frances is also predeceased by her parents, siblings: Genieve, Antoinette, Anne and Patricia, and her brother in law Robert. She is survived by her children Susan Moran and husband Hank Mathieu of Hadley and their children Gregory, Cameron and Olivia Mathieu all of Boston, Sean Moran and his wife Anne of Norfolk, their children Kevin of Norfolk and Christopher of Maine, Brian Moran and his partner Toni Fecteau of Franklin, Sheila Coomey(Moran) and her husband Daniel and their children Daniel and Erin. Mary Frances is also survived by her brother John Penny, her sister in law Ann Moran and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Frances worked as a medical surgical nurse until she got married but after that was a traditional stay at home mother until her children were older. She filled her home with love and order and the delicious scents of homemade foods. When her children were older she began a career in psychiatric nursing at Mclean Hospital that spanned over twenty years. A coworker from Mclean recently reflected that Mary Frances was an example of kindness, strength and compassion, and as such, she set such a good example for new nursing graduates to follow.

Maryfran, was a rare individual who all will remember as always wearing a smile with a positive selfless attitude. She offered all unconditional regard and a prayer, for her belief in God and in love were immeasurable. She was truly an example of one who "let their living be their loving"(Thoreau).She will be sorely missed.

A special thanks to her daughter Sheila and her family whom Maryfran lived with very happily after her husband died. Also a special thanks to the nurses and doctors on South 2 at UMass Memorial Hospital for their kindness and compassion to Maryfran and her family.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 5 at 11:30am in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Mary Frances to the Monastery of the Poor Clares. 920 Centre St. Jamaica Plain MA 02130. Arrangements in the care of.
