Losing a child is undoubtedly one of the worst things you can imagine. Although I love all of my kids equally, I'm sure none of them would feel that I was showing any favoritism when I say that Mike was "special", in fact they would agree. From the time he was a little kid he was quiet and reserved, but he traveled through life like a magnet for friends. I don't think I ever met anyone who didn't like him immediately. The last few months have been heart-wrenching. Shock, despair, brief moments of hope and finally resignation. The one comfort through the ordeal was my daughter-in-law Suzanne,(Mike's wife). For months she completely ignored her own needs and devoted her entire life to Mikes care and comfort. She did an incredible job, going far beyond what would be humanly expected of anyone. Thanks to my other kids (Mikes siblings) Billy, Sue, Lori-Lee, Dylan, Sean, and Kyla, who still found time to make sure I was okay, thanks to Mike's many friends that paid their respects, special thanks to Jaimie, and of course once again, Suzanne. Love you all. Rest in peace son, your Dad

As I held your hand as you passed away from this. I knew you were headed to a better place. A place where your pain and suffering are no more.

I had the privelage to spend several years with you and love you. I also had the honor to have you hold your daughter for the first time and know that no matter what the future held for us, you were always going to be her daddy. I remeber how her smile would lite up the room when she would hear your voice coming through the door. She would run to you and you would scoop her into your arms and say "how was my girl today." The love you gave her was everything a dad could give his daughter. We may have missed some years inbetween but you both know that your love for each other never changed. You meant everything to her.

You were also very lucky to meet another wonderful women who you made your wife. Sue gave you two more beautiful children and several years of companionship. She is an amazing wife. She gave you all the love she had. She promised to take care of you through this couragous fight and she kept that promise till the battle was lost. I love her for all that she has done and it proves what a strong woman she really is.

Sue and myself promised you we will give each other comfort and love and help all of the children get through this horrible time. We will honor this promise to you.

To Chad, Ashley, and Nicole your dad was a great man, an honest man, a giving man, and a loyal man and loved each one of you more than anything in this world.

Sue, we are all greatful to you for taking such great care of Mike. He was a very lucky man to have you as his wife. He loved you more than words can say.

I loved and will always love you Mike Thomson and it was an honor and a pleasure to have the chance to know you, love you, to have you as a companion, and also as a good friend. You will be sadly missed but always remembered for the good soul you once were.. Rest well till we meet again...

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
