Paul Barys Obituary

Paul Barys

WORCESTER - Paul Barys, 62, son of the late Theodore F. and Mary T. (Daly) Barys, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness.

Paul was born in Worcester and had a lifelong connection to the Mercy Centre. He was one of the earliest students at the Mercy Centre school. He participated for many years in the Adult Workshop at the Mercy Centre which also placed him with other vocations beyond Mercy Centre, including many years of work with Catholic Charities.

Paul had a personality that shined, was always friendly and loved everyone in his world: his family, the educators and staff at the Mercy Centre and the social workers that helped him throughout his adult life. He also greatly enjoyed all kinds of music.

Paul leaves his uncle, Paul Daly of Worcester, and many cousins including Joanne Arello of Princeton, his caretaker Donna Campbell of Shrewsbury, and his Mercy Centre community. The family would like to extend their gratitude to his DMR representative Diana Nylen of Holden for her longtime guidance with Paul's care.

There will be a funeral Mass Friday, May 13, at 9 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester. Burial in St. John's Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to the Mercy Centre Adult Workshop, 25 West Chester St., Worcester 01605.

The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.

We the ownership and lessees of the Felter's Mill would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of Paul Barys. He was a hard worker with a saintly demeanor. Everyone at the Mill bumped into Paul from time to time and he became a welcomed part of our lives.

Fond memories of John Daly tying Paulies tie for some wedding or some other dress up affair. John was so gental and caring, and Paulie was so proud and thankful, it was definitely a precious moment to share. Although we didn't know him well, Paulies bond with his friends and family was truly one of love; RIP Paulie, you really were something special...

To the Bray Family,
My daughter Samantha is attending Mercy Centre, every morning the bus would pull into our driveway to pick Sammy up, Paul would always be sitting in the front seat. I would go out and say good morning to everyone Paul had to shake my hand. As he got to know me better those handshakes turned into a hug. I am going to miss those hugs. God Bless you Paul because you were certainly a Blessing to me.

I remember Paul from my very happy days at the Mercy Centre. I think so often of the wonderful young men and women both students and staff that I was fortunate enough to know and work with so many years ago. Paul was a memorable student, kind, cheerful and loving. His "one in a million" Mom was his advocate and first and best teacher. I will keep Paul's family, caregivers and friends in my prayers. He added much to many lives.
