Peter DeMarco Obituary

Peter J. DeMarco, 89, of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in the Beaumont Nursing Center in Northborough after an illness.

He leaves his wife, and best friend, of 62 years, Evelyn R. (Mulazzi) DeMarco; a son, Robert P. DeMarco and his wife, Elizabeth of Wantagh, NY; a daughter, Dr. Deborah M. DeMarco and her husband, Dr. Joel Gore of Shrewsbury; six grandchildren: Diana and Allison DeMarco, Harrison and Hannah Stahl, Dr. Meredith Gore and Emily Gore; also survived by one niece and one nephew. He was predeceased by his two sisters.

Mr. DeMarco was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Nicolo and Margherita (Loisso) DeMarco. He graduated from the New York City School System. He later proudly served his country as a Sergeant with the United States Army during W.W. II.

Peter worked for over 33 years for the Unites States Postal Service in New York City, retiring in 1985 as a Postal Supervisor. In 1998, he and his wife, Evelyn moved from New York to live in Shrewsbury. They were members of Saint Rose of Lima Church in Northborough. Peter became a member of the Retired Men's Club of Greendale and was an active member of the Shrewsbury Senior Center Men's Group.

The DeMarco family wishes to express their gratitude to the entire staff at Beaumont Nursing Center in Northborough for the compassionate care and respect that they provided for Peter and his family during his illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mr. DeMarco's family on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A Mass celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main Street, Northborough. Burial, with military honors, will take place in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UMass Memorial Cancer Center, c/o UMass Medicine Development Office, 333 South Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545 or to the charity of your choice.

It's not often someone so special touches your life. I was so lucky to have had "Mr. Pete" for my next door neighbor but more impotant "MyFriend". My heart is saddend by the loss of such a special person in my life. Be at Peace my Friend, you will be forever loved & missed.
