We are sorry to learn that Phil has passed away.
Our deepest condolences to all of his family.
Phil was wonderful to our brother Roger Okerstrom. Phil always treated Roger with so much love and care over the many years that Roger worked for him. Roger truly thought of Phil as a dear friend and mentor, and is forever thankful for many years of happy memories.
Sincerely,
Sonja Okerstrom Carlson

My thoughts are with all of Phil's family at this time. I miss the conversations we had on our weekly visits when I use to care for his lawn. He was a man of great passions who loved his family, trains, nature, the sea and I'm sure many others. Thanks for all you taught me, I'm sure all your birds are singing for you now. Rip my friend

I'm sorry for your loss, he was a good man and I cherished the time that I spent with him. He treated me well and he was very respectful to me over the years. My prayers go out to the family and those who were touched by his kindness. I'll never forget those conversations from trains to boats to engineering ideas.
Philip, was well versed in all.
May God bless you and your families

Condolences to Scott and family, Vicki and family and Todd and family. Words cannot describe the many years of time spent. There are so many wonderful memories and cover such a wide range. They start with horse shows, births of grandchildren and boating to his special places, Newport and Mystic Seaport.
He was an intelligent, generous, and kind man. He always had a way to make us laugh. Phil and his entire family are some of the best memories of our lives.
It was certainly a pleasure spending time with him.

Deeply sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of that time in our lives... one of the things I remember most was his warm smile and welcoming hug that always greeted me. I will never forget the day I got to take the wheel of the Victoria - what a thrill that was for me (probably less thrilling for all onboard - there was a "bit" of chop that day as I recall) but we were safe, always safe.
Thank you Captain Phil, Scott and Serena for sharing her with me that day, It meant so much and is a treasured memory of mine forever.
The sea was his place and now he need not leave it anymore. May we always find him in the "Fair winds and following Seas" that greet us.
With Love,
Sally
