Robert Fallon Obituary

Dr. Robert John Fallon
lunenburg - Dr. Robert John Fallon, 83, of Lunenburg, MA and Vero Beach, FL, a long-time veterinarian, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 21, in Vero Beach, FL.
Bob was born on November 3, 1928, in Fitchburg, MA, the son of the late William J. and Roby I. (Madigan) Fallon and lived most of his life in Lunenburg.
He was a loving husband to his wife of more than 60 years, Madeleine M. (DeCarolis) Fallon and father of three children, a son, Dr. Michael J. Fallon and his wife, Susan (Oster) Fallon of Lunenburg, and two daughters, Anne M. Leader and her husband, Leonard of Leominster and Carolyn M. McLaughlin of Leominster. He is survived by six grandchildren, Robert, Daniel and James Leader of Leominster, Katelyn and Allison McLaughlin of Leominster, and Kendall Fallon of Lunenburg, his brother, Dr. Philip M. Fallon and many nieces and nephews. His brother, Attorney William J. Fallon and sister, Mary A. Smith Gallagher pre-deceased him.
Bob was a graduate of Fitchburg High School, class of 1946. He served with the Army of Occupation in Japan for two years, and then went on to earn a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1952 and a DVM from the University of Montreal School of Veterinary Medicine in 1958. In 1963, Bob and Madeleine established the Fallon Animal Clinic, Inc. in Lunenburg. Dr. Fallon always took the time to ensure the well-being and comfort of the animals he cared for. In addition to his almost fifty years as a veterinarian, Dr. Fallon was a director and member of the Finance Committee of Fidelity Co-operative Bank from 1977 to 2001, was a life member of both the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association, was an active member of his Fitchburg High class reunion committee and member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lunenburg and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
Bob did many crossword puzzles a day, enjoyed vegetable gardening and was an avid tennis player, a past member of both Oak Hill Country Club and Orchard Hills Tennis Club. In later years, he took up golf and enjoyed playing regularly with friends in both Massachusetts and Florida. He loved sports, especially baseball and his two favorite teams, the Boston Red Sox and the Miami Marlins. He looked forward to attending spring training games when the Dodgers trained in Vero Beach.
He is already missed and lovingly remembered by his family and many friends. We wish him a fond farewell: as Bob would say, "Go straight home now!"
His Funeral will be celebrated on Saturday, March 31, from the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 763 Mass Ave., Lunenburg, MA, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Boniface Church, 817 Mass Ave., Lunenburg. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery in Leominster. Calling hours at the Funeral Home are on Friday, March 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The wish of Bob's family is to set up a scholarship fund in his memory for a student who is pursuing an education to become a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician. Thus in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Robert J. Fallon Scholarship Fund, 14 Manning Ave., Suite 500, Leominster, MA 01453 or may be left at the Funeral Home. Bob was my uncle and my godfather. He was always very important in my life. His kindness and consideration were well known (in spite of accidentally stepping on my daughters foot in one photo) He somehow managed to find the funny side of life and his sense of humor was something I always admired. I am very grateful that I was able to attend his funeral and connect, once again, with his family. Bob will be missed. My sincere condolences to Madeleine and the family.

My parents took our family dog to Dr Fallon way back when he first opened, and 30 cats and 6 dogs later, it's still the only place we take our pets. Dr Fallon was exceptionally kind hearted to both people and animals and a wonderful vet. His dedication and caring are continued on in all the Fallon Clinic staff, making it the only place I bring my cats. He will be missed.

We just heard about Dr. Fallon's passing. We were neighbors of the Fallons in Vero Beach and we always enjoyed seeing them in Vero.

I am so sorry I could not make it down, I was told on the day of the wake. I am so sorry, I do remember a lot of good times with him and my aunt when my grandparents were alive (Bob and Elly Pelletier).

Michael, there are no words to express the sadness we feel for you and your family. I have lost count of the number of animals I have brought to see your Dad over the years. That love of animals and their owners lives on at your clinic to this day. Thank you so much for carrying on your Dad's love of all creatures big and small. We will all miss him.

We just found out about the passing of Dr. Fallon and feel so saddened. He was a very kind, happy person who we were privileged to have known as a neighbor and friend in Lunenburg for many years. I (Anna) am facing surgery tomorrow for a knee replacement and after rehab for a few weeks will return to Lunenburg. Stay strong Madeleine, and I will see you when I am able.
Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to all of the Fallon family.

35 years ago we brought Meatball, one crazy bull terrier to Dr. Robert Fallon. He always took great care of her. We have been bringing our dogs to Fallon Animal Clinc since. Thank You Michael for continuing his work. Our sympathy to you and your family and everyone at Fallon Animal Clinic.

Thank you, Dr. Fallon, for starting a vet practice unlike any other I have ever had for my animals. Not only is the quality of care exceptional, but the animals and their guardians are treated with such caring and kindness. Dr. Fallon established that spirit as THE way pets and people would always be treated in his Clinic, and that spirit --led by Dr. Michael and practiced by all the doctors and staff at the Clinic-- remains to this day, 24 years after our first visit. Thank you sincerely.

Dr. Fallon will be missed by so many people and animals, always.

My sincere sympathy to the whole family and to everyone at the Clinic.

Our thoughts & prayers are with Dr Fallons' family and friends. We moved from the area over 30 yrs. ago, but would never forget the awesome care he gave our pets (which were many). We considered him a friend for several years. "Thank You", Bob. With our deepest sympathy, Paul & Mitzie Amadon, New Bedford, MA
