Robert King Obituary

Robert R. "Butch" King, Jr., 67

Worcester - Robert R. "Butch" King, Jr., 67, of Worcester, died Thursday, September 28, 2017 at UMass Memorial – Belmont St, after a long battle with cancer.

He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend Angel M. (Giguere) King, a son Michael and his wife Lesley King of South Windsor, CT; two sisters, Elizabeth White and her husband Richard of North Fort Myers, FL and Joan King of Vero Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Tyler and Mason, to whom he was known as "Bampy"; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was born and lived in Worcester, son of Robert R. Sr. and Anna I. (Cormier) King.

Butch retired from Peabody Supply (Formerly R&R Plumbing). He most recently worked part-time for CAP Auto Parts on West Boylston St. in Worcester. He had a passion for classic cars, especially his 1966 Ford Thunderbird. He also loved woodworking and building things (his family affectionately nicknamed him MacGyver). He loved his family and friends more than anything.

Thanks to all his doctors: Dr. Alec Vaezi, Dr. Jeremiah Tracy, Dr. Paul Rava, Dr. Mohammad Salhab, Dr. David McManus, and Dr. Gayatridevi Ika. All the nurses at the infusion center, especially Terri Dowd and Anita K., along with Amanda Marie from the 6th floor at UMass and Tara from medical resources, all touched Bob for their genuine care & kindness.

The funeral will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11am at St Joseph's Church, 10 H Putnam Rd Extension, Charlton, MA, followed by a light lunch for family and friends at the Auburn Elks. Calling hours are Thursday, October 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave. Burial will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.

We are very sad to hear of Bob's passing. We loved his passion for old cars. He became a staple for the season when we would see him at the various cruise nights. He supported the Worcester show since we took it over 5 yrs ago. Our heart felt condolences to his family and friends. We have definitely lost a part of our car family. Rest In peace..sincerely Cars of Summer Car Show family

May you rest in peace, Butch. It has been a long time since we were next door neighbors on Harlow St. I have fond memories of you and your sisters and your mother and father who were so kind to me and my family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of your family members.
