Robert Lippa Obituary
Robert graduated from Amherst College, class of 1979 and UMASS Medical School, class of 1983. He worked as an emergency room doctor for over twenty years; first at Henry Heywood Hospital in Massachusetts and then at Lankenau Hospital in Pennsylvania. Most recently he worked at WorkNet in occupational health. He was a member of Fairmount boat club, where he rowed daily. Bob was kindhearted and loving, but more importantly, touched people's lives through his actions. He was an avid volunteer, assisting weekly for Philadelphia Adaptive Rowing and was also a member of the Spring Mountain Ski Patrol. He lived his life helping others in need.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday Jan. 11, from 5-8 pm at the D'anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA. 19008 and to his Funeral 11 AM on Thursday, Jan. 12th (service at 12 Noon) in the Main Chapel of the Memorial Home, followed by inurnment at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy should be made to the National Epilepsy Foundation, with the intended purpose of supporting research. Donations can be made to

Dear Lippa Family,
I was deeply saddened when my Dad told me Bobby had passed. I new Bobby at SHS, he was the best that SHS could send out into the world: smart, great athlete and kind to all. He will truly be missed. See you on the other side Bobby. God speed.

Dear Lippa Family,
I am deeply saddened to learn of Robert's passing. I am Amy's childhood friend and have so many fond memories growing up with Robert & Amy.
What an amazing legacy Robert has left his family--a quiet but strong man, brilliant, with a great sense of humor and a kind heart. Also an intensely hard-working soul who loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Dear Lippa Family:
I was a close friend of Bob's sister Amy, and I also spent many hours at the Lippa household. Bob was always so sweet and gentle, with that great smile, intelligence and wit. All of his classmates from SHS will greatly miss him and remember him fondly as a wonderful guy.

To the Lippa family: I competed against Bob in the double and quad events at many regattas. It was fun rowing and chatting with Bob and Bill afterwards. Whatever the overcome, Bob always had a smile on his face. He was a friend, competitor and a very fine person. To the Lippa family, We rowed against Bob and Bill in the masters 2x and 4x at many different events over the years and had some great races. It was good fun to compete and chat with Bob afterward about rowing. You could always count on Bob to have a smile on his face, no matter what the outcome was. He had a kind and compassionate approach to all his patients, never seemed to lose his patience, and was always smiling. Dear Carol and family,
I'm not sure if we've ever met, but Robert was a cousin of mine. While he lived with his family in Swampscott, Massachusetts, I lived with my family nearby in Lynn and then Marblehead. I remember how his father, Sherman, also loved the ocean and was an avid sailor. I would sometimes drop by their house to visit when riding my bicycle.
I moved to California in the early 1970s and then returned (with my brother, Steve) briefly to Massachusetts around 1978, where we had a short-lived antique furniture business. My brother returned to San Diego and I drove to western Massachusetts and stopped for a month in Amherst. I remembered Robert was a student at the university there and somehow I managed to find him and we had a good visit.
I think it's amazing how much Robert accomplished in his life and I was sad to hear what happened.
I wish you strength at this trying time.
May Robert's memory always be a blessing...

Dr. Carol,
How shocked I was when the message was delivered to me of your husband's passing. I often saw him in the cafeteria and in passing him he always would say "Hi" or express a pleasant smile. My heartfelt condolence most certainly goes out to your and your children on this unfortunate and unexpected demise. I will keep you and them in my prayers for strength during this time of mourning.
