Robert Munroe Obituary

Robert S. Munroe, 83

NATICK - Robert S. (Bob) Munroe, 83, long-time resident of Natick, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at home surrounded by his family after a period of declining health.

He is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 59 years, Jeri (Spadoni) Munroe. Bob was born on March 3, 1935 to the (late) Frank and Doris (Sullivan) Munroe in Framingham, MA.

His adolescent years were spent working on the family farm in East Pittston, Maine where he attended Bridge Academy playing football and basketball. Upon the family's return to Framingham, Bob enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Army and National Guard.

He was a hard-working, creative man who had many talents. Bob was a proud member of Ironworkers Local 7 in Boston where he spent the majority of his working years. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Patriots and Red Sox. Bob was the president of the Indian Heights Association in Buzzards Bay for over 20 years where he enjoyed fishing, boating and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was an extremely generous individual who derived great pleasure in doing for others. Bob loved life and he loved his family.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his four children: Robert W. Munroe and his wife Erin of Shrewsbury, Richard Munroe and his wife Marion of Hopedale, Lisa MacDonald and her husband Chris of Hopedale, and Jennifer Smith of Boylston; his nine grandchildren: Stephen and Nick Brown, Bob, Molly and Taylor Munroe, Emily and Ashley MacDonald, Ricky and Autumn Smith; his four great-grandchildren: Maddison, Mackenzie, Colton and Rory Brown; his loving sister: Betty Moody of Mary Esther, Florida and many loving nieces and nephews.

Bob's family would like to thank Natick VNA nurses: Keri, Simone and Lynn for their care and compassion.

Family and friends are invited to visitation at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick, MA 01760 on Thursday, November 8th from 4:00-8:00 P.M.

A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of John Everett & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, November 9th at 10:00 A.M.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to your family during this difficult time. I hope the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring much comfort. Just knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

Your neighbor..

My name is Kristy and I am a nurse that cared for Bob at his dialysis clinic. Although I only knew him for a short time, he truly touched my heart and I am so sad to hear of his passing. Bob was a sweet, and kind man, with such a positive outlook on life, despite his health. He always brought a smile to my face, and I enjoyed caring for him. He will surely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I first remember Mr Munroe when Marion and Rich just moved into their house in Hopedale. He was very busy cleaning. He was not happy with the dust on the ceiling fan.(from the previous owners) He said "how can people eat at the table , look at that ceiling fan right above where they eat, how can people be like that". I chuckled as I watched Jerry cleaning windows. I thought, I am not here to relax. These people are workers. Bob was always friendly and talkative at all the family functions where I had the pleasure of running into him. Rest in peace Mr Munroe. I also was a Natick VNA nurse and loved the organization. I am glad he died at home with the support of the VNA amongst his family. God Bless. I also want to tell the Munroes how deeply sorry George and I are for your loss.
