Ryan Quinn Obituary

Ryan Patrick Quinn, 35

Worcester - Ryan Patrick Quinn, 35, of Worcester, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital, after being stricken ill.

Ryan was born in Worcester and lived in Worcester all his life. He attended Thorndyke Road School and was a graduate of Burncoat High School where he played soccer and tennis. He later graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport.

Ryan has worked in sales in the medical and pharmaceutical fields for many years. Most recently, he has worked with the health care product line of Praxair.

Ryan leaves his parents, Peter and Anne (Bresnahan) Quinn of South Yarmouth and formerly of Worcester; his fiancée Molly O. McCullough of Worcester; his brother Timothy Quinn of Worcester; his loving godparents, Mary Murphy and Richard Quinn; many aunts and uncles; and his close friend, Gator.

Ryan was a kind and special person. He possessed an enthusiasm for every aspect of life. He loved his family, friends and dog Gator. He was a devoted son and brother who always honored them. The four Quinns were as close as any family could be and welcomed Molly into their circle with open arms. He was thrilled every time he could cook and share a meal with Molly and their friends. They hosted their first Thanksgiving together on Brighton Road for 24 family members and friends and cherished every moment of it. He was so very excited to help plan his upcoming wedding to Molly and made their engagement evening an incredible celebration for both of their families. They were truly soul mates and made each other happier than either one of them had ever been. He reveled in the times he spent with his family, especially on Cape Cod. He appreciated every gathering of people and volunteered to organize many of them. His tremendous loyalty was in view as he regularly marked birthdays of his school friends from Thorndyke and Burncoat at Sunken Meadow Beach in Eastham in his younger years.

He was a true jokester that loved making us all laugh, even if it was at his own expense. Ryan was a devoted friend who always thought of others and loved not only those friends but their children as well. He loved being Uncle Q and couldn't wait to have children of his own.

Ryan loved sports. As a young man, playing them was a true passion which segued into a love of watching them as an adult. He followed all New England sports teams, and enjoyed watching college basketball and football; particularly the Florida Gators. He was especially excited to follow this year's World Cup. Two special sports moments in Ryan's life were attending the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta with Anne, Tim, and Pete and, while not a trained runner or a registered entrant, he ran the Boston Marathon when he was in college. He was a member at Wachusett Country Club and loved getting out and playing golf with friends and family. We are so happy that we were all able to get out and golf together at the Cape over Memorial Day Weekend. It was during this outing that Ryan asked Molly's father for her hand in marriage; it only took him until the 17th hole to ask. There was always room in his ear for music particularly the music of Queen. His passing is a tremendous loss to a wide circle of family and friends who will never forget the beauty of his life.

"Oh, rhythm of my heart is beating like a drum with the words I love you rolling off my tongue ~ No never will I roam for I know my place is home ~ Where the ocean meets the sky I'll be sailing."

Calling hours are Wednesday, June 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Thursday, June 19, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Planting the Seed Foundation, 28 Brighton Road, Worcester 01606 or to the WEDF for a Scholarship in Ryan's memory, 210 Park Ave Suite 224, Worcester 01609.

To Anne, Peter, Tim and Molly....I was extremely upset to hear from Elizabeth (Sweeney) Murphy's mother, Anne, Saturday on my way to a softball tournament in Charlotte, NC. Quiner was one of Sean's friends I met early in our daughter's relationship. It only took about 5 minutes he was my kind of guy. I recall his kind heart and his concern for the human wellness of others. Molly, hold tightly to the love you shared for each other. May God's Grace & Love hold you in his arms, is is God that that is taking care of Ryan now. Gary & Anne Sweeney (Charlotte)

Dear Anne, Peter, Timmy, & Molly,

Sorry to hear about your terrible loss.
We are certain that Ryan will be with you all from heaven above watching over Timmy, Molly, Mom & Dad. If he could communicate directly he might say to you.

I Miss you too!

Mommy & Daddy please don't be sad,
I miss you so much too, and especially Timmy and my special Molly.

It's beautiful here,
but I worry a lot about you.

I sleep with angels watching me...
there is only love up here.
I am never lonely or afraid
because God is so very near.

I walk with Jesus every day,
He is very kind and loving.
Don't worry Mom, He holds my hand
when we cross a golden street.

I never cry or hurt myself,
I see Grandpa every day.
I play and laugh and sing a lot
and I hear you when you pray.

Please Mommy, don't be mad at God,
you see He loves me too.
And even though you are not with me,
I am really still with you, but you still need to feed Gator.
