Sara Shelby Obituary

Sara N. Shelby, 43

Boylston - Sara N. Shelby, 43 passed away at UMASS Memorial Hospital –University Campus on February 21, 2021 in Worcester MA. after being stricken ill at her home on February 13, 2021.

Sara was born in Worcester on January 14, 1978 to Robert A. and Deborah D. Shelby.

Sara attended Shrewsbury schools and later moved to Leicester and attended Leicester High School and Bay Path Vocational High School.

Sara is survived by her partner of 15 years, Matthew L. Bigelow of Pittsfield, MA, her sons Tyler A. Shelby of Spencer, MA, Damon and Edward Bigelow of Pittsfield, MA, her father Robert A. Shelby of Boylston, MA, and her mother Deborah D. Hicks of Spencer, MA. She also leaves behind her brother Robert A. Shelby Jr. and his wife Amanda of Tolland, CT, her sister Heather A. Moroney of Tifton GA, a cousin and best friend Alberta "Amy" Shelby of Boylston, MA, they were born a week apart but they were more sisters than cousins, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sara especially enjoyed watching wildlife in the morning while sitting in her uncle's sunroom overlooking the back yard and having coffee with Matthew. She enjoyed the birds at the feeders, the multitude of turkeys, a fox and a coyote. Her favorite was a wood chuck, Woody, who she used to walk out and feed salad scraps to. Her favorite TV shows were Friends and, of course, the ZOO. She wanted one of everything. "Would Uncle John mind if we had a Giraffe?"

Sara's beautiful, infectious smile, sense of humor and total honesty always affected everyone she met. She would always leave them smiling.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Interment will be private at a later date.
