Sebastian Longo Obituary

Sebastian J. Longo, 79, of Worcester formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away Saturday, September 22nd, in the University Commons Long Term Care facility, after a long illness.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Marilyn (Clemmey) Longo; two daughters, Maria M. Smith and her husband J. Thomas, and their children Matthew and Lindsey, Rose Ann Longo and her husband, Bryant Palazini; a son, James R. Longo, his wife Candace and their daughter, Nicole all of Shrewsbury; two stepsons, Michael Clemmey, his wife Patricia and their children Clarissa, Alysha of Marlboro, John Clemmey and his son, John Jr. of Putnam CT; a stepdaughter, Debra J. Clemmey of Worcester; a brother, John Montonari of Shrewsbury; his former wife, Mary (Ferrante) Longo of Shrewsbury; many nieces and nephews. A brother, Anthony Minichilli and four sisters, Josephine Debonis, Theresa Danuser, Margaret Coture, and Susie Briffon predeceased him.

Sebastian was born in Worcester, son of Dominic and Maria (Patti) Longo. He grew up in Worcester, Served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea, and lived in Shrewsbury before moving back to Worcester.

Sebastian owned and operated Goodwin Trucking Company over 30 years before retiring, due to illness. He previously owned Longo's Lounge. At onetime he worked for Monahan's Pub and Spring Air Mattress Company.

Sebastian was a member the Main South Post American Legion and the Brown Square Civic Association. He was a dedicated worker in life who enjoyed times with his family and trips to Atlantic City and Foxwoods.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, September 25th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, September 24th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jeremiah's Inn, 1059 Main St., Worcester 01609 or the Salvation Army, 72 Cambridge St., Worcester.
