Stephen M. Dagley, 65

PAXTON/GLOUCESTER - Stephen M. Dagley, 65, of Paxton, formerly of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at UMass Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Stephen is survived by his daughter, Melinda Joyce Taylor of Plymouth; his son, Stephen M. Dagley, Jr. of Concord; his granddaughter, Lisa Anne Barrie of Plymouth; the love of his life, Carolyn (McMurry) Montano of Paxton; a sister, Lorriane Goulette of New Mexico.

Stephen was born in Gloucester, the son of the late George Dagley and Phyllis H. (Hines) Boyd and graduated from Gloucester High School. He later received his associate's degree from Salem State in civil engineering. Stephen served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Gloucester Department of Public Works and later worked as a foreman in the shipping department for Valerian for many years. Stephen enjoyed collecting coins and knives and loved to sit and look out onto the ocean.

Services for Stephen will be held privately. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Veterans of Foreign Wars, 224 Eastern Ave, Gloucester, MA 01930.

So sorry to read of Steve's passing. We were good friends during our youth, having both bowled on Winning Pins on Channel Five and in numerous leagues together. Steve was a fun person to be around and his loss is shared by many. May he rest in peace.
