Steven DiRoberto Obituary
WORCESTER - Steven M. DiRoberto, 27, of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 20, 2012 in Boston.
Steven is survived by his mother, Catherine A. (Carroll) Ferraro and her husband Francis; his father, Steven M. DiRoberto; a brother, Daniel J. DiRoberto; his maternal grandparents, Edward B. Carroll, Jr. and Theresa Carroll; his paternal grandmother, Michelena DiRoberto; two uncles, David DiRoberto and his wife Lynne and their children Cayla and Cole, and Edward Carroll and his sons Edward and Brian Carroll all of Worcester; two aunts, Jacqueline Forrest and her husband Mark of Vermont and Jennifer Fahlin and her husband Bill and their children Rachel and Courtney of Charlton; his dog, "Rocky"; many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Leo DiRoberto.
Steven was born in Worcester and graduated from Worcester Vocational High School where he excelled in baseball, basketball and football. He attended the University of Connecticut Avery Point and later received his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Worcester State College. Steven was a realtor for Boston Luxe and REMAX Advantage I. Before going to Boston Luxe, he started and managed the rental division within REMAX Advantage I. Steven was an avid sports fan especially baseball. He played baseball as a pitcher for UCONN Avery Point and Stan Musial Senior League joining both the teams at the World Series. He also played for Grafton Hill Post, the American Legion and Worcester State College. Steven received the M.V.P Award twice in both football and baseball. Steve enjoyed family and friends. He valued the time spent together and family gatherings. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
A period of calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 4-8 p.m in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Steven's funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m in Our Lady of Mount Carmel- St. Ann's Parish, 24 Mulberry St., Worcester, please go directly to church. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Worcester Technical High School Athletic Programs, 1 Skyline Drive, Worcester, MA. 01605.

My heart goes out to Steven's parents, family and friends. I know Steven is in God's hands and is happy in heaven, but it is still difficult to be without him here on earth. I believe God decides how long we need to be here...and when we are "needed"in heaven. Steven did his job here and is doing what he is needed for in heaven...I am sure he watches over all his family now. Peace to all....my your hearts heal soon.

Steve joined the Stan Musial team that I coached The Cmass Expos in the summer of 2007- we were a tight knit group and I was worried about bringing in another pitcher into the staff- those concerns were imeadiatly put to rest when Diro showed up. He was a tremendous competitor and a joy to be around, he was a great teammate and great to be around. He only threw for us that one summer but he was everything you could want in a teammate.
Later while I was working in Real Estate in Boston Steve called me to tell me he was starting out in Real Estate as well- he seems to have moved on to be incredibly sucessful in that field as well.
My thoughts are with Steve's friends and families. I'm saddened beyond words by this loss.

Our son played baseball with Steve at Voke and he always speaks so highly of him. His teammates looked up to him, respected him, and wanted to be more like him. He was always ready to help and was a leader on the team. I remember him giving our son Daniel many rides to games and practices.
This tragedy could happen to any of our kids. We are so very sorry. Our hearts are broken for Steve's entire family. It is amazing to see how many lives Steven touched in his short life, what a tribute to him!

To my second family,
I met the Carroll/DiRoberto family about a year ago and was instantly apart of their family. Steven always told me I was going to fall in love with them as soon as I met them and he was right. I loved them then because I knew that each member of his family played a hand in who Steven was, especially his mother, step-father, grandfather and brother. Steven would not be half the men he was without his family. Steven not only had his immediate family who he loved, but his extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles who he would have done anything for. Their is a piece of our hearts that will never be filled with our loss.
Steven is always described as an ambitious man who always put in everything he had into everything he did. I can remember countless hours sitting in Remax because he wanted to be the best at what he did and he was. I am so sorry for our loss and we will get through this together because Steven would want us to.

My heart is broken and I can not believe I will never hear your voice and laugh again as well as see your amazing smile. I hope you know that you have made me a better person from all the time we spent together. It took me six years to finally accept your date request and I am so glad I finally said yes because I loved you the moment we went out, even if we did meet in the Remax parking lot. You taught me to be a stronger person and to be more positive in life. I will always cherish the countless mornings we spent with Rocky, the dance sessions in the BMW to "Man of the Night" and every time you called me at the end of the night to tell me how much you loved me. I love you with all my heart and not a day goes by that I don't think of you. There will always be a place in my heart for you that no one will be able to fill. I love you with all my heart and we will see each other again in the future. I know you will be looking out for your friends, family and loved ones. You are our guardian angel now, make us proud.

I am so sorry for the loss of Steven. Seeing all the outpouring love and mourning of Steves passing is a true sign of the person he was.. The true friend he had been to so many. Although I have lost touch with Steve since highschool, many of my memories of my highschool years are with Steve. Steve was an outstanding young man with an incredible energy and spirit. He always went out of his way to say Hi to everyone. He will be missed. My deepest condolences.

Cathy,Steve, Danny, Dave & Lynn, my heart feels so heavy for all of you. I thought it was so nice that Amanda had ran into Steve and Danny a couple weeks ago so was telling me how nice they were to her. I also ran into Lynn & Dave this summer at a Legion game , it was so nice to see them. Michael always looked up to Steve on the mound, having the same passion of baseball. Families may drift but we have always had you in our thoughts. Now Steve is with Uncle Leo and Grandma watching over everyone. Your entire family our in our hearts
