Surapi Bezdegian Obituary

Surapi Sue Bezdegian
Worcester - Surapi Sue "Gee" (Surabian) Bezdegian, 86, of Worcester died in her home surrounded by her loving family on January 31, 2012. Surapi was born in Worcester on January 20, 1926 and lived here all of her life. Surapi was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Aram Edward Bezdegian, who passed away in 2007. Surapi was also predeceased by her precious son John Aram Bezdegian of Paxton who passed away in 2009.
Surapi is survived by her devoted children: her son David Bezdegian who lived with her and was the light of her life, and her daughters Janice Phillips and her husband Stephen of Shrewsbury, Joanne Yaylaian and her husband Thomas of Worcester, and Margaret L'Esperance of Worcester and she also leaves her 8 grandchildren. Surapi is also survived by her daughter-in-law Anita Bezdegian of Paxton, her oldest brother Martin Surabian of Hyannis Port, her sisters-in-law Serpouhie Surabian of Worcester and Carol Surabian and Irene Bezdegian of Shrewsbury, and her brother-in-law Fred Tarbox of Gloucester, and several nieces and nephews. Surapi was predeceased by her parents Solomon and Mary (Harootunian) Surabian, her sisters Margaret Surabian and Juliette Grillo, and her brothers Andrew Surabian, Harry Surabian, and Stephen Surabian.
Surapi was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend and she put the needs of others before herself. She had a great wisdom about life and she loved hard work. She had a strength of character that never wavered and a faith that comforted everyone around her. She faced her life with vitality, energy, and courage and she enjoyed life's little pleasures. Surapi was an outdoor person who was an avid walker, loved to garden, shovel snow and work in her yard. She thoroughly enjoyed entertaining her family every Sunday for Sunday dinner and she cherished being around her children and grandchildren.
Surapi loved shopping with her daughters Janice and Joanne and she always referred to the three of them as the "Three Musketeers." She was very proud of her grandchildren Talya, Brad and Jonathan and their many accomplishments.
Surapi was a devoted, loving, kind, thankful, selfless, generous, strong, complimentary, witty, fun, and fun-loving wife, Mom and Gee. She was truly a pleasure to spend time with and a joy to be around. The void she leaves will never be filled, and she will be dearly missed forever by her loving family. We'll love you forever, Mom.
Surapi was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour and a former member of their Women's Guild. Before she was married, Surapi worked at Washburn Wire and after marriage she was a stay-at-home wife, mother, and grandmother raising her five children and her grandchildren. She later worked at Kindercare in Worcester.
Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Thursday, Feb. 2, from 4-7 p.m. A Dahngark service will be held at 6 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour Friday, Feb 3, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. The family requests flowers be omitted and donations made to Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester MA 01609. Peggy, I just want to express my sympathy to you and your entire family on the passing of your mom. We have been on vacation in CA for 3 wks and I was not aware until Pat told me just about an hr. ago. May your memories help ease the pain during the time and help. I am constantly thinking of my mom and so wish she was here. She passed away back in 2002. You look just like your mom, by the way. Our prayers are with all of you. Linda and Paul Carlson

Dear Jan and family...you were more than blessed to have had your loving mother for so many wonderful years. Her obituary was a beautiful tribute to her, and made me feel I knew her. She, also, was more than blessed to have you all taking such tender care of her and enabling her to remain at home until she was ready to be with your dad and brother.
Much love,
Pat L'Abbe

Gee,
You were an extraordinary Grandmother and human being. Your strength, kindness, love, bravery, and wisdom are an inspiration. To quote you: "YOU are a peach!" I know you are in paradise with Pa and Uncle Johnny and your family watching game shows and eating amazing foods. Now I have my wonderful, amazing Grandparents watching over me together.
All my love always and forever,
Brad
