I am very sorry to hear of Mr. Crompton's passing. He was an inspirational teacher who made math class memorable. I'm sure there's not a student out there who won't look back fondly on his Chief stories. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Oh Uncle Tom, I wish i could have been there to say goodbye to you. I'll never forget you and all the memories i have of you as I grew up. Always having a new caddy that you were so proud of, chief following behind you wagging his tail and probably my most memorable of being the flower girl in your wedding to aunt jackie. You will be missed by everyone whose life you touched. RIP. Love you.

I may have had Mr Crompton only a year, but his class was the best I had. I don't have many good memories of Mary E Wells. I do remember almost every Math class I had with him. Thanks to you Mr Crompton for showing the better side of math and teaching altogether. Rest Easy....

To the Crompton family,

I never did have Mr. Cropmpton for a math teacher, I did have him for Homeroom in 6th grade. However may he rest in peace.

I wanted to say something about my oldest brother, TOM (teacher of the millennium). From what I have read in the guest book, most of the kids,(now young adults) felt the same way. Yes, Tom had a way to get his profession and true love (math) instilled in their minds and it stuck because it was different, humorous and meaningful all at once. He cared about those kids and their education. He really and truly did. Now, as an older brother, he really took charge. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.A brother is different than a student. However, he was always there when we got stuck and needed some help. T.C. Yes, TC is the way he introduced himself most of the time. But he didn't have to introduce himself to me. So I remember TC standing for Tom and Chief (his dog). God, he loved those dogs. (there were three of them over the years). And, I'm sure most of his students and the faculty know who they were too. He was a kind man who always stuck to his lesson plan of life. (Teach them, make them smile and head them in the right direction). So Tom, as you leave this earth and pass through those pearly gates, stick to that lesson plan and some day we'll meet again. Say hi to Marilyn and Mom and Dad for me. I love you and will truly, truly miss you. Richard.

Mr. Crompton... YOU are one of the reasons that I became a math teacher! When my students ask my why I tell them about you, your passion for education and your love of math. May there be chalk holders, airport submarine races and NO pains in the lower back in heaven! Enjoy the eternal teacher's lounge! RIP Mr. Crompton

Tom you are truley missed. You were the true sense of a big brother. I have as many memories of things I learned and great times we had as your students have of you. Being Toms youngest brother was great. Most of all his studying was done in my youngest years. So as I grew older we were able to spend more time together. Times at the beach, swiming at the YMCA. To name a few. He taught me how to become a responsible dad. With three children of our own he was always concerned about their schooling. Tom with all the hundreds or thousands of lives you have touched the most I think mine was in the top five. Love you

I remember Mr. C in and out of the classroom. I was never a real big fan of Math and although he tried to convince me it wasn't that bad with his jokes and persistance he couldn't. What he did however do was make me appreciate who he was as a caring individual and person. He was a smart man with a big heart. I am saddened by this great loss to the Southbridge Community that I grew up in. He definitely made a great impact in the lives of thousands of people including mine and almost my entire family. My deepest and sincerest condolences

Approximately 23 years ago, I met a wonderful bright eyed smiling man named Mr. Crompton. My Crompton was my math teacher at Wells Junior High. I am graduating class 2004 and from time to time I still saw Mr. Crompton and still that smile remained. I was a girl that hated Math. I always felt I was terrible at it and always had to struggle. Mr. Crompton made lasting impressions and a huge impact on my life then and now. He made math fun with great stories and picture of "Chief" his retriever who he was so very proud of. He pushed me in class to be the best I could and I will be forever grateful. He is one of few teacher's who I can honestly say made in a difference in my life as I'm sure he did for others over the years as it was his nature. He will be greatly missed and my condolences go out to his family.

I remember "Mr. C" fondly. Although I was unfortunate to not have him as a teacher, his greetings to us students walking the halls to our next class at the former Wells Jr. High School were genuine and really hysterical sometimes. If you were having a bad day, just one funny comment from Mr. C was all it took to make you smile!! Rest in the arms of the angels, Mr. C! We have missed you over these years!

Often times educators don't realize what kind of positive impact they have on their students' lives. Your love of Math seemed to rub off on your students. And as a former math student of yours I am truly grateful. You were truly a credit to your profession and your legacy will live on through your family.
