Thomas Fryer Obituary

Thomas B. Fryer, Jr.

WESTBOROUGH - Thomas B. Fryer, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014 at the Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation. He was the husband of Nellie L. (Ruksnaitis) Fryer. His first wife, Madeline (Kavanaugh) Fryer passed away in 1986.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Ellen (Lebeau) Fryer. He was educated in Westborough schools and was a 1943 graduate of Westborough High School. He also graduated from Northeastern University.

Mr. Fryer was employed as a civil engineer for the Massachusetts Department of Public Works. In later years he became the manager of the Westborough DPW prior to his retirement.

Tom was a communicant of Saint Luke the Evangelist Church, a member of the Society of Professional Engineers and a former member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed carving, painting and woodworking.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children, Christine A. Reed and her husband, Thomas, of Brownsburg, Indiana, John T. Fryer and his wife, Pamela, of Upton and Robert T. Fryer and his wife, Sherrie, of Westborough; three step-children, Peter M. Dayotas and his wife, Evelyn, of Northborough, Paul G. Dayotas and his wife, Cynthia, of Westborough and Pamela A. Fryer and her husband, John, of Upton; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 7th, 2014 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church Street, Westborough.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 8th, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. in Saint Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main Street, Westborough. Burial will follow in Saint Luke's Cemetery.
