Thomas Malone Obituary

Thomas F. Malone III, 62

WORCESTER - Thomas F. Malone, III, 62, a life-long resident of Worcester, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident that occurred two days prior on his birthday. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Thomas was one of four children of June I. (Pierce) and Thomas F. Malone, Jr. He was lucky in love, marrying his high school sweetheart, Christine A. (Bouley) Malone. Together, they shared 42 joyful years of marriage.

In addition to his wife Christine, Thomas will be remembered and missed by his son Thomas F. Malone, IV and his wife Sarah of Dudley, daughter Maura A. Curran and her husband Jason of Douglas; beloved grandchildren, Benjamin and Anna; siblings Kathy Scally and her husband Warren, Maureen Banach and her husband Peter, Patricia Burgner and her husband Glenn; along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues.

Thomas graduated from the Worcester Boys Trade School in 1975. Shortly after graduating, he began practicing in the electrical trade, devoting his entire 38-year career as a licensed electrician, and a licensed sprinkler fitter. Thomas spent the majority of has career employed with Cushman and Wakefield, with whom he retired in 2014.

As a lover of nature and animals, Thomas found pleasure and comfort in the outdoors. He spent many hours maintaining his lawn and gardens, fishing, and taking walks along the Quabbin Reservoir with his wife. His love for the outdoors combined with his sense of adventure is what led him to a passion for motorcycle riding. When the sun was shining, Thomas could almost always be found riding around on his motorcycle both locally and throughout the country roads of New England. During his travels, he sought out antique shops and roadside stands, collecting unique items that characterized his home and garage. Antiquing was a hobby that he shared with his wife.

Thomas was also a man who could fix nearly anything and was quick to lend a helping hand to others in need. He and his father would spend quality time together working on cars and rebuilding engines. Over these later years, Thomas continued to tinker with engines, especially smaller engines, because he was fascinated by how things worked.

Also like his late father, Thomas had a quick wit and a lively sense of humor. He knew just how to ignite a room with laughter during family gatherings. He enjoyed spending time with his neighbors and friends, but especially his family. If the topic of politics came up, Thomas was certain to share his thoughts and feelings. He was a very proud grandfather to his precious Benjamin and Anna, who brought a smile to his face.

In honor of Thomas' wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately under the direction of the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Thomas' memory to Worcester County Motorcyclists' Survivors Fund Inc., P.O. Box 536, North Uxbridge, MA 01538. Chris and Family..
My heart is heavy.. I am profoundly saddened by the loss of Tom. Tom brought light and laughter to every work day. His unique personality that included generosity without boundaries, wicked sense of humor, political advice, a Mr Fix-it encyclopedia of knowledge and a down to earth demeanor made him the perfect co-worker and friend. I missed him when he retired but I will miss him forever now. We had long chats about anything and everything but mostly about nothing. Please know that Tom's family was the love and light of his life and he was very happy and appreciative of his good fortune. Never chasing material things or trying to keep up with the Jone's he had everything he wanted or needed with you by his side. His life was cut short but he had a quality of life most people dream about.
Tom..Happy Birthday and keep riding, I'll never forget you or all the things you did for me. One more thing, it won't hurt to be the center of attention just once. Take your seat proudly in Heaven, you earned it.
I loved you as a friend and co-worker but most of all, because there will never be another you.

Brenda

Tom was a classmate at Heard Street School from kindergarten through Grade 8. What comes to mind are good times with a great classmate and friend, and a lot of laughs listening to comedy albums at his house on Montello Street and cracking up over Wacky Packages after Cub Scouts, to recall just two happy memories. The last time we met, many years later at a store in the neighborhood, the laughs started all over. God bless, Tom, and condolences to the Malone family and friends.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Tom's passing. I have no words available to truly express the grief I feel and my sympathy to you, Chris, your children,Tom's sisters Kathy Maureen and Pat. So many years of wonderful memories immediately spring to mind; swimming at the Malones' house , listening to Tom's sister's albums when we were kids, the endless summer nights hanging out at "the field", and you and Tom coming down to pick me up in the old Ford Falcon. These are memories I truly cherish and knowing Tom was one of the highlights of my childhood. I am thinking about all of you. Please know that I and all of Tom's friends from the old days cherished Tom's friendship, his humor, and yes he could fix anything! May God bless you and help heal you in these worst of times .
Love and Sympathy,
Mark

I'm so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. We enjoyed so many laughs and experiences together: Heard St. School, Cub Scouts, Kick The Can games, the swamp and playing baseball under the lights of street lamps. We all enjoyed his great sense of humor. I will always remember the laughs. Thank you, Tom
