Thomas Mansfield Obituary
SOUTH BARRE - Thomas J. Mansfield Jr. 58, of 305 North Brookfield Rd, died on Saturday, August 3, 2013. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Jane (Byrde) Mansfield; a son, Richard; a daughter, Amanda ; grandsons Jacob , Kyle , Caleb and Reide ; parents Thomas and Blanche (Brown) Mansfield of Barre; brother Gary & his wife Robin of FL.; sisters Mary Coppolino & her husband Peter of South Barre, Blanche Mansfield of West Brookfield, Christina Elledge & her husband Larry of SC., Cindy Burdulis & her husband Tom of Worcester, Valerie Harrington & her husband Brian of ME., Pamela Goodale & her husband Steven of Barre; several nieces & nephews; brother-in-law Gordon Byrde & his wife Eleanor of N.L.; sister-in-law; Sheila (Byrde) Power & her husband Pat of N.L., and his very dear friend and fishing buddy Kevin Towne of Warren.Tom was born on March 6, 1955 on Bell Island (St. John's) Newfoundland, Canada. He graduated from Quabbin Regional High School in 1973. He was a veteran of the United States Navy Seabee (1974-1978) and was a member of the So.Barre Fire Dept.. He loved soccer and hockey; he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1970-71 Western Mass. Soccer Champions. Tom worked as a machinist at Reed Rolled Thread in Holden & Auburn for over 30 years.Tom will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love of the outdoors, fishing, hunting, spending time with his loved ones and riding his motorcycle. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons: taking them fishing and hunting, going for hikes in the woods and playing games with them. Tom will be deeply missed by his family and friends. No farewell words were spoken, no time to say good-bye. You were gone before I knew it and only God knows why. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in The Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St, Winchendon, MA. Please omit flowers. I WILL ALWAYS,AND NEVER FORGET THE TIME ME AND GORDIE TRAVELLED TO SEE TOM AND JANIE. HAD A REAL GOOD TIME,TREATED LIKE KINGS,LAUGHED ALOT AND ENJOYED THE HOLIDAY BIG TIME.TOM WAS ONE OF THE BEST,NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.HANG IN THERE JANIE....RICK AND SHEILA

As the days and months have past, I still miss the sounds of the two of you ridding by the house. I miss Tom walking with the boys down to the sand pit. Jane, you and Tom have given us some fond memories that will all ways be treasured.

Dear Jane & Family, I am so sorry that life has taken this road and a future so tragically taken from you all. Tom will always be vision of someone who adored his family and his kindness and helpful ways were lived not just talked about. I will miss his friendship but I am grateful to have been part of his life as well. God Bless you all in this time of separation until we're all together again. Love you. :)
