William Quinn Obituary

William J. Quinn, Sr., 75, of South Windsor, passed away Saturday, (September 8, 2007) at Hartford Hospital. Captain of the St. Peters High School Football Team # 37, in Worcester, MA he met his high school sweet heart, Phyllis Herbst who would later become Phyllis Quinn, his wife of 55 years. Born October 1, 1931 in Worcester, MA son of the late John and Rose (Ryan) Quinn. He was a Sergeant with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Before retiring he was vice president of Litton Industries and Ranger Manufacturing. In 2004 he was inducted into the football Hall of Fame for the Guardians of St. Peters High School. Beside his wife Phyllis, he is survived by his three children, William Quinn, Jr. of Manchester, Christine Quinn-Schade of West Hartford, Colleen Quinn-Caruso and her husband, Anthony of Willington; five grandchildren, Brittney, Kellie and Danny Schade, Delaney Quinn and Riley Quinn-Caruso; a sister-in-law, Patricia Cooney; a brother-in-law, Richard Herbst and his wife, Rita.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 12th, 12 p.m., at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. Burial with military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. His family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home.
