Charles David Ware

Smyrna, Tennessee - Charles David Ware, age 62 of Smyrna, Tennessee departed this life on May 8, 2021. He was born on August 5, 1958. He graduated from John Overton High School in 1976. Charlie immediately began a lifelong career with the former (Louisville and Nashville) L & N Railroad. In 2018, he retired from the now CSX Railroad, just 6 months shy of 42 years of service.

In his short retirement, he enjoyed watching old westerns, college football games and spending time with family and neighbors'. Charlie always had a helping hand out for the squirrels, dogs and children that came by his home. His greatest love, was his sons and always the time he spent with both of them.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Helen Turner Ware. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Ware, his great nephew, Zaydyn Norris and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Charles is survived by his loving and dedicated sons, Charles "Chuck" Ware of Old Hickory, Tennessee and Brandon Ware of Nolensville, Tennessee; grandsons, Sebastian and Carsen; sisters, Debra Ware (Lloyd) Ellis and Julia Ware (Michael) Roberts, nieces and nephews, January, Kurt, Ayla, Christal, Chelsea, Clint, Erin and Blaise; nine great nieces and nephews; aunts, Bessie Mae Traughber and Edna Ellis; very special friends, Nura, Rachel, Mia and Antonio.

Active pallbearers, Lloyd Ellis, Kurt Ellis, Clint Ellis, Michael Roberts, Blaise Roberts and Scott Erwin.

Honorary pallbearers, will be his beloved Railroad brother from CSX.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with a gathering of family and friends, one hour prior to the service.

Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cross Mausoleum.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Charlie was a unique individual and I'm proud to have spent several years of railroad time with him. He was a great person that made the impossible seem possible.
