Cordelia Bryant Obituary

Cordelia Hudson Bryant

Springfield, TN

Homegoing Service was held for Ms. Cordelia H. Bryant on July 2, 2016 at Bridge Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 4949 Charles Dorris Road, Springfield, TN and Reverend Shaphin L. Martin, Pastor/Officiating, Reverend Harvey L. Butler, Jr. Eulogist

Mrs. Cordelia Hudson Bryant was born on January 22, 1919, to Virgil (Poppa) and Mary Elizabeth Hassell Hudson in Sumner County, TN and departed this life on Sunday, June 26, 2016. To some of her family members she was known as, "Lil' Sister". Her birth mother died when she was only six years of age, and she was raised together with her dad and the woman she so fondly loved and called Mama Rosseta. She was educated in the Robertson County Public School System. She was married to the late Clarence William Bryant in 1941 and to this union one daughter was born. Early in life she united with Bridge Hill Missionary Baptist Church and was a diligent and avid worker until her health begin to fail. She was a very proud Sunday school teacher, where she was so favorably known as Ms. Cordelia. Her service also included being a choir member, a church clerk for many years, and a member of the Mother's Boards and was honored with a beautiful plaque as the eldest Mother Emeritus of the church.

She was a homemaker, loved children and helped raise John E. Jernigan, Sr., son of her eldest sister, Castella, and always volunteered her time at school and any capacity that she was asked to serve.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters, four brothers, one son-in-law and a devoted nephew, Jack L. Jernigan, who recently had sent Red roses to both his aunts at NHC and he himself was call home shortly afterwards.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Mrs. Queen Esther Bryant Couts of Cross Plains, Tennessee, one loving granddaughter, Sgt. Brianna Nicole Jerome of Fayetteville, North Carolina, one surviving sister, Wilma Dean Jones of White House, TN, a very dedicated niece, Eural Dean Northington (Baby Sis.), and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
