To Sister Bernice Goodwin, the Goodwin Family and the entire Watson Grove church family, I extend my deepest heartfelt thoughts and prayers to during this time of great lost. I had the priviledge of being a member of your church between 1995-1999 and it was under Pastor Goodwin's God inspired vision that I was able to begin on my Christian journey. He was a wonderful man of God and a truly well respected individual. I was deeply sadden to learn of of transistion but imediately found rejoicing in knowing that one of God's faithful servants has earned his reward. Thank you Pastor Goodwin for your direction. You will be missed and you are greatly loved.

To Mrs. Goodwin and Family as well as Watson Grove Church Family: I know it hurts very badly, but you know that God will heal the hurt. As my Pastor, Rev. Thomas, often tells us that the hurt will go away and the many memories will last. All we can do is lean on God's everlasting arm. We loved Rev. Goodwin at Jefferson Street, so our church family is hurting as well. Rev. Goodwin and Watson Grove did not miss celebrating our church anniversay with us every year. He loved Rev. Thomas and we loved him.

I used to attend Watson Grove regularly back in the early to mid nineties and Paster Goodwin was one of the best Pastors that I had ever been exposed during that. My memory of Pastor Curtis W. Goodwin is a happy one. I was the secretary at Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend James Thomas, Pastor when Pastor Goodwin became the pastor of Watson Grove 38 years ago. He was so excited but at the same time so humble, seeking to become the best pastor that he could be. My prayers go out to his wife, children and to the entire Watson Grove church family as a whole.

Bernice, you and the family are in my prayers and my thoughts. What can I say to a woman who has suffered such a great loss but thank you. Thank you and the kids for sharing Pastor with us. He has touched so many lives. With my own eyes Ive seem many lives changed because of his commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. For me, a daddy, a teacher, a counselor, a protector, a comforter, and so much more. 37 years of watching someone give all of himeself to a people such as us has impacted my life tremendously. I often asked him "how did he put up with us". He would just smile. So to you I say thank you. Also for being there for me and my family. Now its time for me to be there for you. Your quiet spirit speaks volumes to me and to so many others. I love you sooo much. Im am proud to call you my first lady and will be forever. It is an honor to say that . I also say to you: You and I like so many others who have suffered great loss know that God is Truly The ultimate comforter and healer...when mama passed I wept as though it was the end, but now as I still weep in my moments of missing her now rejoice because The Word of God says in 2 Corinthians 5:2-8 "2 We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. 3 For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies.[a] 4 While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. 5 God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit.
6 So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. 7 For we live by believing and not by seeing. 8 Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord." I was compforted knowing that when absent from her physical body, she was with our Lord. I have to remember that scripture because when we lose those who are sooo dear to us , we dont feel like celebrating but we can be comforted in knowin that...."weeping may endure for a night, but joys comes in the morning". We share your grief in the lost of Rev. Goodwin. He was a Great man of God. He will be missed tremendously. We loved him but God loved him best.
