Gary Burt Obituary
Tullahoma, TN
Gary Lavon Burt, known to everyone as "Butch," peacefully passed away on November 15th, 2013, after an extended illness at Vanderbilt Hospital, where he was surrounded by all of his immediate family; his wife of 43 years, Brenda Burt; his son, Seth Burt; his son, Lenton Burt and wife Melissa Burt; and his sister, Sharon Segroves.
He was a graduate of Moore County High School in 1966 and attended Tennessee Tech University. He was a lifelong member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Moore County. He worked for a short period of time as a water tower welder, before beginning a 44 year career with Shepard's Chevrolet, now know as Stan McNabb Automotive Group. Butch acted in numerous capacities, ranging from parts manager, salesman, and both general and used car manager for the company.
If anyone had dealt with Butch, you have heard him say, "I gotcha covered."
Butch Burt is survived by his wife, Brenda Tucker Burt of Tullahoma; his son, Gary Seth Burt of Murfreesboro; son Samuel Lenton Burt and his wife Melissa Pendergrass Burt and grandchildren, Lola Burt and Channing Leo Burt, of Fayetteville; sister, Sharon Burt Segroves (Roland) of Tullahoma; mother-in-law, Dot Tucker of Lynchburg; brother-in-law, Danny Tucker (Donna) of Lynchburg; nieces, Wendy Grayson (Jay), Tara Parks (Scott), both of Lynchburg; nephew, Garth Segroves of Murfreesboro; along with several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Lavon and Ruby Hall Burt; and father-in-law, Robert Lenton Tucker.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 17th, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Kilgore Funeral Home in Tullahoma, Tennessee, with the funeral service being at the same location on Monday, November 18th, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Bro. Cameron Ray and Bro. Jack Hice officiating. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Toys for Tots Program at 613 South Jackson Street, Tullahoma, TN 37388 or to 5 Loaves 4 Kids, c/o Belinda Bricken, PO Box 597, Tullahoma, TN 37388.
