Gary Hobson Obituary

Gary Allen Hobson

Pleasant View - Gary Allen Hobson, age 75 of Pleasant View, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at home. He was born on March 13, 1945 to Carl Hobson and Ruth Hobson in Washington state.

In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Elizabeth Mae Guiley, Lola Jean Caldwell; brothers, Vernon George Hobson, Robert Lloyd Hobson, Richard Earl Hobson, and Kenneth Keith Hobson. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Cathy Hobson; brother, James Stanley; and many nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family and friends.

As an elder in the Ashland City congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Gary's greatest love was serving God and having the privilege to serve others in the congregation and ministry. Gary not only was a hard worker, he completed every task with joy: floor care as employment, cleaning, designing, building structures, carpentry, making furniture, learning to repair cars, electrical, plumbing, gardening, lawn care, and donating his work to his God and to the community.

Long life gave Gary the opportunity to volunteer at the zoo and lead elephants in parades. He learned to scuba dive, explored ice caves, spelunk, hike mountains, camp, ski, swim, play tennis, become an accomplished artist in many mediums, and enjoyed extensive travel. He shared these many activities with his family and friends.

Gary died a faithful servant of Jehovah God and subject of his son, Jesus Christ. He will be missed until the resurrection.

A zoom memorial will be held Saturday, February 13,2021 at 1:00 PM.

Uncle Gary used to come visit my parents often when I was between 10 and 15 years of age. After saying hi to my parents, he would ask if I wanted to go throw a baseball or football. He always wanted to know how I was doing. I appreciated the time and interest he took in me. He also used to work for Winchell’s Donut shop in Westwood Village near our house. I’d go down there in the evenings and help him fold boxes. As payment he would let me eat as many of the left-over donuts, or bring a box of donuts home. He was a wonderful uncle!
