Today July 4th, marked the 1st anniversary of my brother's death, Maurice Jackson. I would like to take a moment to thank you all for keeping his legacy alive throughout this year. When I signed on to keep this guest book open I did it for selfish reasons, I could not just let it go so quickly. But reading everyone's comments let me know that all of you needed it too, and for this reason, I thank GOD that I did keep it open. My brother was a very loving person, to me he was larger than life, a true star. I will purchase this book and keep it for as long as I shall live. Through our memories he will live on. He may be gone but never ever forgotten. GOD bless you all.

To The Jackson Family,
My memories go all the way back to Maurice standing under my window downstairs by the dumpster on 13th, in John Henry Hale flirting with me.
Now he is with Rabbit (His Mom) and Ms. JayBird (His GrandMother).
I just returned from Nashville, to attend my cousin's funeral (Leo Edmondson).
My husband died this past February

This year has been filled with pain and tremendous loss. How shocked I was to learned that Maurice had also died.
To Glenda, LC, Diane, Sheila, Tyrone, Lynetta & BabySister - May God give you strength, and may he comfort your heart and dry your tears.
Praise be to our Lord, Jesus Christ for our hope in the Resurrection, knowing that we will see our loved ones again.

We were barely 20 when we formed a bond that would last more than 30 years. A bond that, through the years, would bend both ways a lot, but never totally break. For a lot of those years, you were my man, my love. But even when we were separated, nobody was ever surprised to see us together. We had a connection that kept drawing us together, year after year, after year. We’d become a habit. And we never stopped coming in and out of each other’s lives. It’s hard to accept that you’ll never be around again.
We shared so much, we watched our children grow up and have their own children. We learned to be grandparents while teaching our kids to be parents. You were around my family & friends for so long, they share memories that I had forgotten about. For my family, you were family. My parents loved you; my siblings feel like they’ve lost a brother. You’ll be missed by all of us for a long time.
So many memories. Through afros and Jeri curls, the era and low riders, through the Halloween parties, so many holidays, my first plane trip to Tampa, and even learning that cohabitating wasn’t the best idea for either one of us, there was always something there. Couldn’t stay, but couldn’t stay away. That’s who we were. If we could have known only 2 weeks earlier it was last time. We thought we had next time; there had always been one.
You always said you would go before me, but honey, this was much too soon. I never forgot your first words to me, and I’ll treasure the last thing you said to me. I couldn’t have prepared myself for the phone call I would get less than 48 hours later. Now the rings I wear take on special meaning. I’ll take comfort in my memories. And it puts my mind at peace knowing that you lived life for all it had to offer. With our history, I’m sure I’ll end up wherever you are, sooner or later. Until then......

Maurice,
My love, my bestfriend, my soulmate. I miss you so. I am comforted with the knowing that you now dance for the Lord. My memories keep me from being sad too long and I thank God I have so many.
YOUR SMILE
Though your smile is gone forever,
and your hand I cannot touch, I still have many memories of the one I loved so much.
Your memory is my keepsake, with which I'll never part. God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.
Sadly missed but never forgotten.
Goodbye Sweetie

The dust returns to the
ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. ( Ecclesiastes 12:7 )
SAFELY HOME
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I an now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! But Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth--
You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the pleasure of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Rest in Peace Maurice. I have been knowing you for 38 years and you were my dancing partner, skating man and funloving friend who loved to joke a lot. We shared a closeness that was very loving. We had good times, fun dates and lots of laughs. You were very complimentary and honest. I will truly miss you and treasure this picture close to my heart. It hurts knowing that I want see you down here again, but hold on, I'll see you on the other side one day and we're going to dance for joy. RIP

For approximately 35 years, Maurice was my like my stepdad. We practically grew up together(lol). I have so many memories that keep me smiling that it's hard for me to be selfishly sad. Once I get over the initial shock and grief, I'll be at peace with his resting place. I know his heart so I know he's at peace with what god has in store for him. He will be truly missed by my mom, myself and my family. He's always been with us through good and bad times. From all the parties to all the holidays, through all the tragedies or to just say "what's happening!", he was there. It'll be hard to get used to him not being around but I know reese is watching over us. Love you Stepdaddy !! Shell

To the family and all that love him,
I have known maurice for about 6 years and if theres one thing i have learned during this time its that he was one of a kind. The sound of his voice would make you smile, his energy and smile could light the world. Although i sometimes couldnt understand what he was saying because he was talking so fast, i will truly miss our conversations. It brings me sadness to hear the silence in the building he once roamed. The hotel is much more quiet now, but im sure if you listen closely you could still hear his laugh. It breaks my heart to know i will no longer see him, There are alot of borken hearts out there right now. He was loved by all, and will be missed the same. All of us that knew him, we are truly blessed to have met him. Maurice i love you, i miss you, you were a true friend, you were family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Maurice, I cannot express the pain that I feel, you were a brother to me and my family for the last 35 years. We have memories that will never die and I will keep them forever. There was no one like you, you were just being Maurice and that meant alot. For anyone who knew you, you were the party person, loved to clown and have fun, and loved to eat. I will miss you terribly, and I know that you are wrapped in the arms of the lord and in a better place than we are. There will be no more pain and worries. You are free now. Rest
To the Jackson Family, God truly will not put more on you than you can bear, He is going to be all right now. He is with GOD.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
