Melvin Drake was called to eternal rest at 10:02 p.m. in Nashville, TN.
Preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Drake Sr. and Annie Kibble Drake; brother, Shelby Drake, Huntsville AL.
Melvin leaves his loving and devoted wife, Norma J. (Jackson) Drake to cherish his memory. three children, Melvin Quentin Drake, Sr. (Bowling Green, KY), Eric Patrick Drake (Atlanta, GA) and Erin Danielle Drake (Brooklyn, NY); four grandchildren, Melvin Quentin, Jr, Aaron Patrick, Zachary Nicholas and Benjermin Adam Drake (Nashville, TN); two sisters, Eura (Drake) Sales, Vera (Drake) Curry, (Huntsville ,AL); three brothers, Oscar Drake, Jr. (Thelma), Nashville, TN; Clarence L. Drake, Hazel Green, AL, and Elbert L. Drake (Linda), Hazel Green, AL; numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
Public viewing, Monday, August 10, 1-6 p.m., Smith Brothers Chapel. Family visitation, Tuesday, August 11, 11-12 p.m. Funeral to follow, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 7594 W Old Hickory Blvd, Whites Creek, TN 37189. Bishop Joseph Warren Walker, III, Pastor. Interment, Middle TN Veterans Cemetery.
