Oleda Rudy Obituary
Nashville, TN
Oleda Magdaline Miller Rudy, born May 11, 1923 in Davidson County to the late Elzie and F. Caroline Miller.
She was the wife of Jacob Frank Rudy, Sr. Frank was co-founder of Rudy Farm Sausage Company, which began in the 1930's. Frank preceded her in death in 1981. She later remarried Bob Lundquist, who also preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by late brother, Herbert Winfrey Miller.
Oleda is survived by three daughters, Katherine Caroline Rudy, Patricia Oleda Rudy Woods (George Ron Woods), Mary Frances Rudy; son, Jacob Frank Rudy, Jr.; sister, Jane Miller (late Jimmy) Greenway; brother, Norman Wayne Miller (Nancy); thirteen grandchildren, William Moore (Emily), Christopher Rudy Moore, Patrick Moore (Rahny), Ron Woods, Jr. (Mallory), Tricia Woods Ramsey (Allen), Allison Woods Egan (Christopher), Kimberly Gleaves Roberts (John), Laura Gleaves Mitchell (Brian), Rebekah Gleaves Sanderlin (Bobby), John Gleaves (Amy), Jacob Frank Rudy III (Kristin), Ashley Rudy Burch (Doug), and Houston Rudy (Jessi); forty-one great-grandchildren; and special caregivers, Barbara and Don Hill.
Oleda grew up in Donelson and became involved in the community. She was a charter member of Free Will Baptist Church (now The Donelson Fellowship) located at 3210 McGavock Pike. She served in all areas of the church in the beginning years. Her daughters began singing in that church. It was at the church that her daughters formed a gospel-singing group known as The Rudy Sisters, singing on radio, local television programs and even on the Grand Ole Opry.
The family will receive friends at The Donelson Fellowship (located at 3210 McGavock Pike in the Donelson area of Nashville) from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday evening, and again one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning.
Services will be held from 11 a.m. until Noon at The Donelson Fellowship, with Interment following in Hermitage Memorial Gardens on Shute Lane.

The Rudy family are an important part of the Donelson heritage. My mother grew up with Oleda and shared many stories of their times together. I will treasure the memories of being in her home when Mary Frances & I were growing up. Mrs Rudy was a Godly woman who brought her children up to love The Lord. God Bless all of the family.

I thank God for the privilege of knowing Oleda and Frank Rudy, as well as the extended family. Oleda was always very special to our family especially when we went through a very difficult time in the loss of our daughter and two grandsons. Carolyn, Patricia, Mary Francis, and Frank Jr., we are praying for you during this time of loss. But be thankful you have the opportunity to join her one day. God bless you as well as Jane and Wayne. My love and sympathy to the family in the passing of a wonderful Lady. Oleda was a kind and loving Mother who adored her family. She was gracious and always a pleasure to talk to. I consider it an honor to have known her and been her next door neighbor for over 30 years. I will miss seeing her working in her yard. May God bless you all and keep all the precious memories close.

I just wanted to say how sorry I am for y'all's loss. I really hate I can't be there. Ru Ru was such a positive influence in my life. She was always so much fun. The trips to Nasville would not have been the same without Her. Taking us to opryland, the grand ole opry, the opryland hotel, shoney's for breakfast. I always loved staying at her house. Those high beds. As a kid I thought they were so tall. Y'all were such a fun group to hang out with when we were growing up. It is sad to see this great generation passing on. Such good and fun people. I know she will be missed. I will never forget her. If any of you are ever passing through South Georgia please stop and see us. Oleda was a dear friend when I served as her pastor years ago. She was outgoing, loyal and a dedicated servant of the Lord who loved her family, church and community. She came from "the old school" when hard work was in fashion. She will me missed.
