I do not recall a family memory with my mother's family without Uncle Robert. He always had a kind word, calming disposition, and caring heart. He believed in demonstrating love and kindness by his actions. We learned a great deal from him and will always have him in our hearts. Rita Grant Weekes, Verleon's Daughter

When I was in my teens, Uncle Robert, seeing that I enjoyed photography and was pretty handy with a camera, asked if I would take pictures at his men’s club meeting, but of course I jumped at the opportunity to do so, and absolutely enjoyed it, the fact that he paid me made it all the better, that was the first time anyone had paid to for my services. I had a chance to relay that story to Uncle Robert just a few months ago, he just laughed as I reminisced, “Is that so”, as he smiled. Whenever we were short on funds, he always found something for us to do around the barbershop. Our Uncle but always let us know that he was glad to see us when we came around. “Uncle Robert! Thanks for all the free haircuts, cokes and chips, and inspiration that you gave to us all”. You were indeed a great act to follow.
Rest in peace.
Love, Joe Earl

My prayers, thoughts and love to the Craighead/Smithson family on your loss of this great man, Mr. Craighead. I started going to Craighead's Barbershop at the age of 16 yrs old and continue to this day. I am 59 yrs. old. I always enjoyed and learned from, the great debates on politics and all the other subjects, that were talked about between Mr. Craighead, James Miles, and anyone else who had an opinion. I always held him, Mr. Craighead, in great esteem and honor. I will miss him, as everyone else who knew him. Rest in Peace, you are now at home.
