Sally Hardcastle Boone died Friday, October 30, 2014. She was born August 18, 1929. She was the daughter of Martha Ezell Hardcastle and Walter W Hardcastle, Sr.

Sally was married for 62 years to John L. Boone, who survives her. She is also survived by three children, Kennie Boone Wieland (Glen) of Orlando, FL, Jay Boone (Lee) and Martha Boone Bland (Griffin) of Franklin, TN. She has six grandchildren, Billy Wieland (Caroline) of Orlando, David Wieland of Sarasota, FL, Lauren Shibley (Andrew) of Franklin, Annie Langley (Kyle) of Nashville, Ashley Guest (Justin) of Talanga, Honduras, and Michael Bland of Bowling Green, KY. She also has four great-grandchildren, Blair Wieland, Kathryne Shibley, Micah and Isaiah Guest, and a fifth great-grandchild due early 2015. Additional survivors are her brother, Walter W. Hardcastle, Jr., many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her sister, Martha H. Warfield.

Sally graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1947 and Vanderbilt University in 1951, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.

She worked at Vanderbilt University Hospital before starting her family. She served on several boards, among them Martha O'Bryan Center, Park Manor Senior Residential Living Facility and The Sponsors. She was president of the Nashville Vanderbilt Club, coordinator of volunteers for the United Way, and a founding member of Safe Place of Nashville.

She was a charter and lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon and an Elder, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and served with the Stephen Ministry.

She chose to donate her body to Vanderbilt Medical School; therefore, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Martha O'Bryan Center, Safe Place c/o Oasis Center or the charity of your choice.

A visitation will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3900 West End Ave., Nashville, TN 37205, on Friday, November 7, at 12:30 p.m. with a service to Celebrate her Life beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Sally was a Southern Classy Lady with a giving and compassionate heart. She will be remembered for her love of Christ, love of family and her service to the community. She was blessed to have her husband John by her side caring for her. Together they created a strong family. The world has lost a wonderful lady who will be missed by all.
