Susan Wright Kelton

Brentwood - Susan Edward Wright Kelton of Brentwood, TN passed away on January 31, 2018 after a courageous two and half year battle against cancer. Susan was born and raised in Franklinton, LA to Mary Magdalene (Taylor) and Edward Wright on July 20, 1946. She graduated from Louisiana State University in 1968. She married Mac Kelton on July 14, 1972. Susan's most cherished role was wife to Mac and mother to her three boys. Her love for people was evident throughout her 38 years as a Realtor. She is also the co-author of the book "My Grandmother is Praying for me." Susan's life was marked by her great love for friends and family, but her faith in Jesus Christ was her greatest treasure. It was the source of her grateful and joyful spirit. Susan is survived by her husband of 45 years, Mac Kelton, three sons - Rhett (Andrea), Jeremy, and Clay (Rebecca), and five grandchildren - Wyatt, Kendall, Piper, Lainey and Knox. She is survived by her two sisters Nancy Futral, of Brandon FL, and Mary Crain, of Bogalusa, LA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, February 4th from 1 to 4pm at Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville, TN. The memorial service will be Monday, February 5th at Noon at Christ Presbyterian Church. Dear Mac,

I was saddened to hear of Susan's death. My wife and I were privileged to live next door to the two of you during the '80s. My prayer for you is that you will be comforted in His care for years to come. We loved Susan very much.

Dear Mac, Rhett, Jeremy, and Clay,

Mary Bruce and I are very sorry to learn of Susan's untimely death. I know we had not been in touch for many years, but until about 10 years ago my mother stayed in touch with Mary, and kept us posted on all your goings-on. And, of course, it was good seeing you, Mac, and Susan at the FHS class reunion four years ago.

Susan was a dear and generous friend for many years. When I first came to Washington in 1968, Susan was already there, and she showed me around the "big city," helped me find a part-time job to supplement my Navy pay (I later met Mary Bruce at that job), and introduced me to many memorable people.

I'll always remember her as the kind and beautiful person she was all her life. Please relay our sympathies to Nancy and Mary and their families.

Sincerely,
Wilton Corkern

I am saddened to read Susan's obituary. I have wonderful memories of her from junior high and high school, especially when I joined Rainbow Girls. She was pretty much my mentor. Her love for Christ Jesus was always evident. I was proud to be her friend.

To this day, I cannot mix cottage cheese with cherries and cherry juice without thinking of Susan. I learned that from her!

I offer my condolences to, and prayers for, her family and friends. May she rest in sweet peace.
