Thomas Carreiro Obituary

Thomas Anthony Carreiro

Cleveland, TN - Thomas Anthony Carreiro, 63, of Cleveland, TN passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 29, 2020 in the early morning hours.

Beloved Father of Benjamin Carreiro, Richard Carreiro, Stefanie Carreiro, Zachary Carreiro, and Chelsea Carreiro. Engaged to Jodie Burns, remembered and loved by her daughter's Reese and Erin.

Born in Norwood, MA on July 14, 1956. Tom was the Son of the late Edward Carreiro of South Portland, ME and the late Roberta Willette of Canton, MA. He grew up in Marshfield, MA and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1974. He has resided in Tennessee for the past 20 years after moving from Foxboro, MA.

Tom's career journey lead him through many doors and landed him at Cracker Barrel in 2005. There, as a General Manager, he successfully oversaw restaurants in Brentwood, Smyrna, and Murfreesboro, TN. Through his many years at Cracker Barrel, he was awarded numerous district and regional General Manager awards, though his greatest achievement was being named General Manager of the Company in 2015. He was later promoted to District Manager taking him to Wisconsin where he oversaw seven stores. In 2018, Tom decided to follow his heart home to Tennessee, taking over the Shallowford Road location in Chattanooga, TN and lastly their Ooltewah, TN location. Tom is leaving behind a renowned legacy with Cracker Barrel. Though he had countless responsibilities as General Manager, he always took time to impart his vast knowledge and experience with those willing to learn. He touched the lives of many and will never be forgotten.

In his younger days, Tom was known to enjoy making his own custom fishing rods, collecting old bottles, and rock pounding. Though, his true passions were hiking, fishing, and boating - especially on the open water, spending time maintaining his lawn while loudly singing the wrong lyrics to his favorite songs, drinking his Starbucks "triple Grande mocha 180 degree, two pumps of mocha, no foam, no whip" coffee, cheering on the Patriots, finishing his Sudoku puzzles, Chips Ahoy & ice cream, jigsaw puzzles, Mexican food on Wednesdays, popcorn especially while at the movies, antiquing "one man's trash is another's treasure," and shopping for loved ones… as he always said, "you can't take it with you."

In addition to his children, his Fiancé, and her two girls, he is survived by his two former wives: Michelle Carreiro and Beth Carreiro, his brothers Edward Carreiro, Stephen Carreiro, and Alfred Carreiro as well as his sister Cheryl Carreiro. He was preceded in death by his brothers' Charles Carreiro and James Carreiro. He also leaves behind his thirteen beloved grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life on Friday June 5th, 2020 at Hidden View Lake, 900 County Rd. 172, Athens, TN 37303. Visitation will begin at 11:00A with a devotional service to follow at 2:00P

Tommy, it's hard to believe it's been a year since you left us so abruptly. I'm not sure we'll ever get over the loss of you and the plans we had to be together and talk more often - as distance just got in the way. We miss you, we miss that sunny smile and engaging laugh. We miss what could and should have been, watching your children and their children grow up, seeing your marriage to Jodie, with her girls, Reese and Erin, all celebrating together as family every happy milestone. We love you. Brother Eddie and Karla

Tommy, blessed to be your older brother. And to see the wonderful person you turned out to be. Every day, Karla and I will think about you, hear your laugh, remember your funny jokes. To the beautiful Carreiro children, Ben, Stefanie, Rich, Zach and Chelsea, we loved your Dad and will miss him deeply. To Tommy's fiance' Jodie and her girls, please know, you shared the gift of Tommy and your life together in Tennessee and helped draw us as Family even closer together. We love you all, Eddie and Karla Carreiro

Tommy, you will forever be in our minds and close to our heart. Your bright, beautiful smile always lit up a room. Your quick witted jokes made us all laugh. We were so grateful to have followed you and Jodie on Facebook this last couple of years. Watching you both plant bushes, put up a holiday tree, take long walks in nature, we loved talking to both of you, sharing what was to come, getting together, all the things we do, as we age together as family. We never know what God has in store for us. But we do know one thing. Your sudden death is our sad loss. The idea that we won't be able to physically see you, talk to you and share those special things together as Family is hard to understand. We will watch over Jodie, her girls and the Carreiro grown adult children. To the Carreiro Clan, Ben, Rich, Stefanie, Zach and Chelsea, we will think of your Dad every day. Our hearts go out to all of you.
