A Friend

I did not know that Judge Wiseman (Tommy) had passed.
He was a great man of principle and commitment to doing the right thing. I didn´t volunteer work for his gubernatorial campaign, have a grown-up in Coffee County, and knowing the family.
He was the kind of man who believed in all the right things, and lived them in his daily life. He helped a lot of people overcome their challenges.
Tom Wiseman made life better for those with whom he came in contact.
May the Almighty rest his soul, continue to comfort his loved ones and raise up many more like him in America.

Tom such a good man and that smile of his always made me smile. My father Hotwire Young, loved Tom like a son and was always encouraging him to go forward in his career. When I met him he was an attorney and very young. I think I was 6 years old. I always looked forward to his visits. My father was very proud of Tom and his accomplishments. He was a good friend to our family. RIP Tom and thank you for helping make a difference in Tennessee. Condolences to your family.

From your nextdoor babysitting neighbor in Tullahoma - my deepest condolences to Emily, Tom, Mary, Sarah and the whole family. Truly, Judge Wiseman exemplified "a life well lived". Tennessee so benefited from his service and contributions.

Tommy was my mom and dad's personal attorney and Emily was one of my Sunday School teachers at 1st Presbyterian in Tullahoma. Later in life I would see Tommy at the Fed. Courthouse when I was a Staff Photographer for The TENNESSEAN. It filled me w/pride that he was a Federal Judge. While a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville I asked Tommy to speak one year at our Annual Palmer Human Rights Lecture. Towards the end of my introduction I noted that "he finished in third place behind two felons." My back was to him but was told he almost fell out of the chair he was sitting in with laughter. Such an honorable man and a wonderful humanitarian.

I was fortunate enough to get to know Judge Wiseman in my early teens and our friendship continued for many years to follow while duck hunting with him at Middlefork in West Tennessee, both guests of Clark Akers. I always looked forward to opening weekend, as I knew the Judge would be there. He was always so funny, and I loved listening to his stories. He always treated me so well, and went out of his way to teach me things about cooking, and included me in preparing meals. I think of him often, especially during duck season. He was a fine man in every respect. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

I am saddened to read of the passing of Judge Wiseman. Born and raised here in Nashville, Judge Wiseman was someone I was always familiar with. One of his (to me) accomplishments was his teaching at South Eastern Paralegal Institute. I was fortunate to be one of his students. At first, knowing how famous he was here in Nashville, I was in in awe. But that quickly gave way to one of the most wonderful classes I had during that time. Judge Wiseman had an emergency case he had to hear. Rather than have a substitute, he took the entire class to his court to watch real life what we had all been learning about. He was a wonderful man and now reading his obituary I realize that there was a lot more to this man than I even knew before.

Mr. & Mrs. Wiseman were so kind to me and my wife to be Lisa Smith Cannon. God blessed this world with them and their family. I am forever grateful to them.

To the dear Wiseman Family,

Ever since I've known Tom from his days as State Treasurer til the time he came to live with us at Brookdale Green Hills Cumberland, he has been a joy to be around. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you for peace, comfort, strength, and courage in the days ahead. Being with him during his final hour for a special blessing was a memory I'll cherish forever.

My condolences to the family in the passing of Judge Wiseman. I attended school with Sarah and was always inspired by her dad from the time he was the State Treasurer. Everytime I visited Nashville and passed by their home I thought of the family and of course the Bobcats of John Overton. Mrs. Wiseman, Sarah, and the family I'll be praying with and for you. God Bless You and be comforted.
