LEWIS, ToddAge 45 of Watertown. May 26, 2011. Nurse Practitioner and owner of Carthage Family Healthcare. Son of the late Smith County Educator Jerry Walter Lewis; grandson of the late Jessie Winfree Lewis and former Smith County School Superintendant Homer Lewis & Mr. & Mrs. Weaver Napier; 1983 graduate of Smith County High School and member of the Tennessee Tech Paramedic Program class of 1993. Received Associate of Applied Science from Vol State in 1997, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from MTSU in 2000, and Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt in 2001. Member of Golden Key National Honor Society and Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing while at MTSU. Completed post-graduate certification in Family & Emergency Medicine through the Arizona School of Health Sciences and had served as an adjunct professor for Tennessee Tech and MTSU. Former Forks River Fire Department Chief and Smith County Commissioner. Named to the Tennessean "Top 40 Under 40" leaders in 2002. Survived by wife, Rachel Elrod Lewis; children, Lauren & Jerry Ryan Lewis, both of Elmwood; mother, Peggy Lewis of South Carthage; brother, Scotty Lewis & wife Pam of Elmwood; aunts, Kathy Lewis & Linda Beechboard; uncle, Smith County Director of Schools Roger Lewis. Service 3 p.m. Sunday, Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ernest Jones & Bro. Michael Ross officiating. Private entombment in the Smith County Memorial Gardens at a later date.
