Virginia Hayes Obituary

HAYES, Virginia RayAge 93 of Dickson, TN. July 18, 2009. Widow of the late James Mitchell Hayes. A lifelong resident of Dickson, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Mabel Watts Ray. Wife, mother and former school teacher. She was a lover of all of God's outdoor creations, she loved her flowers, she loved gardening, and she loved her birds, and held a great knowledge for all of these things. She loved her beloved Walnut Street Church of Christ where she was a longtime member. She was a graduate of Dickson High School and Martin College in Pulaski, TN. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lo Potts and Aletha Mayes. A special thanks to her loving and caring caregivers, Sandra Turberville, Elaine Escue, Tina Hogan and Crystal Harber, for all they have done for her. She is survived by her son, Dr. Phillip Hayes (Marilyn) of Dickson, TN; her daughter, Glenn Ellen Sorensen (David) of Billings, MT; her grandchildren, Laura Mitchell Hayes, Phillip Neal Hayes, David Christian Sorensen, Emily Hayes Sorensen and Dr. Julie Ann Franklin; her three great grandchildren, Elizabeth Franklin, Kendall Street and Hannah McCallister; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22nd from 4 until 8 p.m., and Thursday, July 23rd from 10 a.m. til 12 Noon at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 23rd at 2 p.m. from the Walnut Street Church of Christ with Bro. Clarence DeLoach and Bro. George Caudill officiating. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Those desiring, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the Walnut Street Church of Christ.
