William JAMESON Obituary

JAMESON, William KendrickBorn December 25, 1925 and died March 8, 2012. Bill Jameson was predeceased in 2009 by his loving wife of 57 years, Ann Rita (Cunningham) Jameson. He was born on Christmas day in 1925 in Elizabethtown, KY. He attended St. Catherine's School in New Haven, KY before enlisting in the U.S. Navy (under age) at the outbreak of World War II. He served aboard naval ship LST-265 where he saw action in Italy, North Africa and southern France. He was honorably discharged April 18, 1946 whereupon he returned to Kentucky to be with his cancer-stricken mother. He later moved to Nashville to enroll at Gupton-Jones School of Embalming. He met Ann Rita (Cunningham) at a U.S.O. dance and the two married August 16, 1952. Mr. Jameson shared his passion for nature with his family through extensive camping trips. He was also a remarkable handyman, performing all the repair work on every vehicle he ever owned (as well as those of neighbors and friends), and all the electrical, plumbing, expansion and remodeling work for each successive family home. His other passions included travel - including multiple trips to Europe and the Holy Land. A long-planned tour of China was disrupted only by his illness. He loved music, especially ragtime, though he appreciated everything from bluegrass to Verdi. Whenever possible, he rounded up his children for spontaneous jam sessions. Mr. Jameson had an insatiable love of photography. He built his own darkroom and served as semi-official photographer for First Communions, team photos, and graduations at Holy Rosary Academy for many years. He also loved building and flying remote-controlled model airplanes at Percy Warner Park. He enjoyed a successful sales executive career at Cleveland Cotton Products, and was several times recognized as salesman or sales manager of the year. He was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and later of St. Henry's Parish. Mr. Jameson is survived by three siblings, Maxine, Rebecca, and Larry. He is mourned by his five children and daughters-in-law, Maureen Jameson, Buffalo, NY; Timothy Jameson (Kimberly), Murfreesboro; Kevin Jameson, Erlanger, KY; Christopher Jameson (Sharon), Brentwood; and Mike Jameson (Tamara Hart), Nashville, and six grand children, Reham and Ghazi Asaad; Emily and Sarah; Liam and John. Funeral mass Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. at The Cathedral of the Incarnation, 2015 West End Avenue. Celebrant will be Father Ed Steiner, Rector. Visitation with family will be at the church at 9 a.m. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his sons, Mazen Asaad, and members of the U.S. Naval Reserve. In remembrance of Bill Jameson, those who wish may contribute to the U.S. Navy Veterans Association, or to the American Diabetes Association. HOLMES FUNERAL HOME, 615-329-2596.

Dear Jamesons,
I remember your father as energetic, detailed and professional, and always kind. He and Dad seemed to enjoy getting their hands greasy on car projects or whatever was in need of repair. The remote control planes were always of interest to me and don't forget the boat - can't forget that one!
I was sorry to hear of his passing. He was an interesting man.

Helen and I extend our deepest sympathy to all you Jameson "kids". We had planned to be with you all this morning, but had a conflict come up. Our prayers are with you nevertheless.
We often think of those happy days we had camping with you "way back when"!
