Mary Colacecchi Obituary

Corning, NY | Mary Louise Colacecchi, age 97, formerly of Griffith St., Corning, NY, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Absolut Care of Three Rivers, Painted Post, NY.
Mary was born on November 26, 1916, in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late Antonio and Lena (Russo) Alotto.
She was a graduate of St. Vincent de Paul grade school and Northside High School. Mary married Joseph J. Colacecchi on November 24, 1945 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Corning, NY.
He predeceased her on October 26, 2005.
Mary spent ten years working as an inspector for Steuben Ware at Corning Glass before later working as a homemaker and raising her children.
During her years at home she also watched several other children of working parents. She will be remembered for her love of cooking Italian specialties, specifically sauces, pasta and breads.
She also enjoyed flower gardening, knitting and crocheting.
Her greatest joy came from being with her friends and family.
She is survived by two daughters: JoAnn (Peter) Paquette of Chicago, IL, Mary Beth (James) Hamilton of Norwalk, CT; grandchildren: Mary Margaret (Mark) Mullen of Chicago, IL and Joseph Paquette of Columbus, IN; great-grandson: Peter Charles Mullen; sister: Rose Icenhour of Corning, NY; sisters-in-law: Doris Kent of Painted Post, NY and Irma Colacecchi of Elmira, NY, along with many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and several great, great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by a baby daughter: Lena- Marie; five sisters: Josephine Carlineo, Elizabeth Orso, Theresa Pierotti, Florence Wexell, Antoinette Alotto; and brother: Frank Alotto;
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at Carpenter's Funeral Home, LLC, 14 E. Pulteney St. in Corning.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 10:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Corning.
Burial will take place at the family plot at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may send memorial contributions in Mary's name to: All Saint's Parish, 222 Dodge Ave., Corning, NY 14830.
