Philip Caputo Obituary

Philip M. Caputo
Corning - Philip passed away peacefully in the arms of Jesus on December 1, 2020, age 38, in Arizona after succumbing to his injuries from a tragic car accident.
Philip was born November 19, 1982 in Kansas City, Kansas. Philip lived in Texas for a few years with his loving family and among the best cousins, aunts and uncles before moving to Corning, NY in 1991. Philip had an attractive, fun, contagious character with an irresistible and radiant smile with a loving heart and joyous spirit. His love for knowledge set him onto boundless quests for finding answers to all the exciting and fascinating mysteries of math, science and nature. This overflowed into his energetic and exciting approach to raising his children as a homeschooling dad.
Philip attended Corning-Painted Post East High School and graduated in 2001. He loved playing sports like baseball, football, lacrosse, and running cross country. He also attended Corning Community College then joined and served in the Army. He enjoyed teaching his seven other siblings and lots of nieces and nephews all the little witty and fun things of life. He could bring the family gatherings to life with his joy, cheerful countenance, and funny sense of humor. He loved family and found God's work in the smallest things. He loved Christmas time most of all.
Philip married Kristan Besner in Arizona on May 19, 2012. Together they had two children, Serenity and Anakin, whom he loved with all his heart.
Philip is survived by his wife, Kristan; his children, Serenity and Anakin; his son, Cori Sutton; his mother, Mary Martuscello; his siblings: Margaret Black (Maynard), Stephen Jr. (Kayla), Fr. Joseph Martuscello, Michael (Hannah), Marie, Celine, and James Martuscello; his goddaughter and oldest niece, Genevieve Black; nieces and nephews: Thaddaeus, Camille, Nathan, Mary, Peter, Elizabeth, Sebastian, Cajetan, and Benedict Black, Cecilia, Stephen III, and Dominic Martuscello; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is predeceased by his father, Stephen Martuscello, Sr.
Calling hours will be held Monday, December 14th, from 10 AM – Noon at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning.
