Tia Toney Obituary

MOUNTAIN TOP — Tia Pryn Toney, 48, of Mountain Top, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 29, 1974, in Wilkes-Barre, the daughter of Wayne and Judy Williams.

Tia grew up in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, and was a 1992 graduate of Coughlin High School. She received a Bachelor's Degree in accounting from Wilkes College, and served as the assistant of finance and administration for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. Tia loved being with her children, traveling, going on vacations, and the beach.

The family would like to thank the Renal Race, Miles for Michael, and the Dr. Moses Memorial Organization for their assistance through the years of Tia's illness. They would also like to express their gratitude to their family and friends at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport, United Parcel Service, and the Teamsters Union for their support. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for the care they provided.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her husband of 16 years, Michael Toney; daughters: Mikayla and Brooke; brother, Brett Williams and his wife Nadia; Chloe, her beloved dog; as well as Cash, who is waiting to be reunited with her. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Linda McDaniels; father-in-Law, Robert Toney Sr.; brother-in-law, Robert Toney Jr. and his wife Megan.

The funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Services will be conducted by Rev. Ken Jordan. Interment will be in Albert Cemetery, Mountain Top. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to: Dr. Nancy Kemeny's Practice, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 300 E. 66th St., New York, NY 10065.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. Tia was one of my best friends growing up. We were always together. Very hard to say goodbye. Always a beautiful soul. Even when time pulled us apart we were still friends. Rest easy my friend til we meet again . Thank you for all the great memories. Prayers of comfort to the Toney and Williams families.
