"Winky"
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Philadelphia Christian Church for Joseph O. Briscoe, 68, who passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017. Omar Thibeaux, Pastor at Philadelphia Christian Church, will officiate the ceremony. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
Joseph was survived by; three daughters, Melissa Prejean and her companion Alvin Noel of Maurice, Dekesha Grannum of Atlanta, GA, and Shamika Briscoe of Lafayette; three sons, Albert Sloane Prejean and his wife Shannon of Carencro, Kendall Briscoe and his companion LaDasha of Lafayette, and Brandon Briscoe and his wife Eugenie of Milton; four brothers, Melvin Briscoe Jr. of Houston (wife-Helena), Anvil Briscoe of Lafayette, John Carroll Briscoe of Atlanta, GA (wife-Enola). and Gerald Briscoe of Sunset (wife-Carol); seven sisters, Enola Kimini of Nirobia Kenya, Africa, Cora Mae Manuel of Lake Charles (husband-Barnell), Sadie T. Rideau of Lafayette, Winella Briscoe of Sunset, Louise Harvey of Amite (late husband-Floyd), Sandra Faye Des of Dayton, Ohio (husband-Kerry , Sr.) and Sharon Wheeler of Sunset (husband-Eddie). 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia; parents, Louise M. Briscoe and Melvin Briscoe, Sr.; one grandson, Tyreal Jamal Briscoe; and one brother, Leroy Briscoe, Sr.
The family requests that visitation hours be observed on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Philadelphia Christian Church from 8:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m.

My name is Frederick Babb, I served with Briscoe for over 2yrs. CAMP LEJEUNE until my discharge May.1971. We worked at the Enlistment Men's club and he Briscoe was in training to become a Mgr. of that facility.
Not to long after that we lost contact. I am sorry that he has left us so soon. Briscoe was a great guy, I wish him fair winds and a following sea. SEMPER-FI
