Mary Tweedel Carrier

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Mary Tweedel Carrier, 89, who died on Monday, May 25, 2015 at River Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette surrounded by her family.

Entombment will be in Our Lady of Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Church Point.

Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Rector of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will conduct the funeral services.

She leaves to cherish her memory her niece and caregiver, Ethel Robin; and her long time friend and caregiver, Cynthia Walters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Elizabeth Colligan Tweedel; her sister, Virgie Arceneaux; and her brothers, Irvin and Tom Tweedel.

Mary had retired after a long career as an LPN with Lafayette Charity Hospital. She stayed active after her retirement as a volunteer at UMC Hospital in Lafayette. She was very devoted to her faith and was an active parishioner of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist volunteering in several church programs.

Pallbearers will be Barrett J. Landry, Russell LeBlanc, Gregg Hamilton, and Ty Landry.

Honorary pallbearers are Bailey J. Landry, James P. Walters and James Hamilton.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of services.

A special thank you is extended by Mary's family to River Oaks Retirement Manor and Hospice of Acadiana for the compassionate care they gave.
