None of your family knows me, but seeing Mr. Higgins' name brings back a flood of memories for me. I had just turned 20 years old in 1970, when I moved from an itsy-bitsy town in North Louisiana to Baton Rouge to start work at what was then the Esso Refinery.
Mr. Higgins was my shift supervisor. For a young "kid" like me, working with some of those rough-edged guys was quite an experience, to say the least. But, Mr. Higgins was always the consummate gentleman. I never heard him say a single unkind, improper word. He was always well-liked and well-respected.
Even though I only knew him for a little over a year before he retired, he did have an impact on my life. I would have loved to have known him longer. I know your family must miss him, but you are so blessed to have had him in your lives.
I remember most that infectious laugh that he had. You and I will hear that again someday.

Paw Paw I love you and am so thankful God gave me those last few moments with you, when I told you Jesus loved you and you confirmed that you heard and understood. Our God is so good! I know you are with him. My sweet memories are of sitting on that front porch with you - hoping to hear another story of your childhood and when you and Maw Maw met.....I still know that story so well. Its amazing that you were on this earth 95 years....what a legacy you have left...thank you for giving me the most wonderful father I could ever ask for. I can't wait to see you again, when we are new and praising and worshipping our Lord together - what an amazing thought..........I love you Paw Paw, Brandi

I AM SO VERY SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF MR. CHARLIE. IT SADDENS ME GREATLY. I LOVED HIM AND MRS. JESS SO MUCH. I HAD THE PLEASURE OF BEING HER CAREGIVER FOR TEN YEARS, AND HIS, TOO, AFTER HER PASSING. I LOVED BOTH OF THEM DEARLY, AND MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE ENTIRE FAMILY. I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH, AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY PRAYERS. HE WAS A VERY SPECIAL MAN, HE ADORED HIS FAMILY, AND LOVED HIS FRIENDS. HE WAS A SWEETHEART, THO, HE WOULD NEVER ADMIT IT! I LOVE YOU MR. CHARLIE, AND WE WILL ALL MISS YOU!

Grandpawpaw, breaks my heart in to 4 million pieces how I can't be at your funeral. Times like this are the hardest not living back home. Remember when we were kids and we would come over for christmas, Jessica and I sooo excited to open up our new Barbies, and jake his new dump trucks? Or when grandmawmaw would alwaysss hand us down some bright red lipstick to make a mess of mom and dads furniture with? Or the time I got locked in that little house when I was like 7 or 8 hahah!! Oh my gosh and can't forget that sweet tea. And those one of a kind ice cubes. Haha. Broke my heart the day maw maw passed, broke my heart the day pawpaw died, and it certainly breaks me down to have you pass. Especially because I can't tell you bye. Only by heart. I love you more than ever, you know that. I wish I could have went with dad the last time he saw you. You live to be 95!!! You were healthy, smart, funny, had a great sense of humor and the ladies loved you ;).... Wish you could see this and smile like I know you would. I love you and ill miss you, but I will NEVER EVER forget you. With love, your dearest, Katie Lynn.

my greatest sympathy to Mr. Higgins children and the rest of the family. I enjoyed being his friend, neighbor, and care giver for the last two years he was here before moving to Vetrens Nursing Home. God Bless you all and we will see him in heaven. He was a warm, kind person and I will never forget him.
