Corey Carl Kitts

"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. On Friday, July 9, 2010, Corey, a native of Plaquemine, transitioned from earth to heaven at his residence in Addis. Corey, 40, was born Sept. 7, 1969, to Michael and Patricia Kitts. Corey was educated in the Iberville Parish school system and graduated from Plaquemine High School in 1987. He attended Southern University. Corey was a member of the Plaquemine High School Band and the Southern University Marching Band. He was employed with the Addis plant of Shintech Inc. Corey was a member of Widow Son Lodge No. 10 and served as senior deacon. He was a former member of Temple Chapter No. 58 O.E.S. Corey loved his Masonic brothers and worked diligently for his lodge. He leaves to cherish his loving wife, Monique Oubre Kitts; three children, Courtney La'Shae Popleon, of Plaquemine, Dorey Jaynhea Kitts and Corey Kitts Jr., both of Addis; two grandchildren, Crystynn McNair and Christopher McNair Jr.; loving and devoted parents, Michael W. and Patricia Kelly Kitts, of Plaquemine; two sisters, Clonise K. and husband the Rev. Mark I. Stewart, of Port Allen, and Rosalind and husband Dwight Jones, of Plaquemine; other siblings, Cleveland Gibson, of White Castle, Jerry Sr. and wife Melissa Gibson, of Plaquemine, Bryan and wife Linda Gibson, of St. Gabriel, Marvin Plant Sr., of Plaquemine, Darlene Gibson, of Minneapolis, Annette and husband Kenneth Dominique Sr., of Bayou Goula, and Brenda and husband Darrel Gibson, of Addis; mother-in-law, Estoria and husband Charles Duncan, of White Castle; sisters-in-law, Phyllis and husband Norris Johnson, of Charleston, S.C., Claudia B. Smith, of Plaquemine, and Francis Beverly Alberado, of Brusly; brother-in-law, Frank and wife Althea Beverly, of Las Vegas; godchildren, Ryan Lee and Tramaine White; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Kelly, Anderson and Mildred Kitts; brothers, Andre Gibson and Mikka Gibson; and father-in-law, Edward Joseph Oubre. Visitation will be at Second Baptist Church on Saturday, July 17, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Mark I. Stewart Sr. Interment in St. Mary Baptist Church Cemetery near Modeste. Arrangements by Hall Davis & Sons Mortuary.
