Devon Anni Swanson

Devon Anni Swanson passed away, unexpectedly, in her home on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the age of 38. Devon was born in Greenfield, MA on June 25, 1983. She was raised in Detroit, MI, and moved to Woodfin, NC to care for her ill mother, before settling in Baton Rouge, LA. Devon was a waitress by profession, but being a caring homemaker was her true passion. She was a devoted, loving wife to Steven Garic, whom she met in 2006, and married on October 15, 2016. Devon and Steve were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Gianna, on February 11, 2008. Devon strived to be the perfect role model and mother. She always tried to give Gianna the best life a child could ever have. Devon had a heart of gold. She was always ready to offer comfort, advice, humor, her home, a meal, or even her sharp-witted opinion to anyone in need. Along with Steven and Gianna, Devon is further survived by her father, Matt Barbour, her lifelong best friend, Jennifer Lysek, and the entire extended Garic family. Devon was preceded in death by her mother, Jenifer Swanson, and her grandfather, Arthur Swanson. While here on earth, Devon always lived her life to the fullest, making the best of every moment like it was her last. With her passing, she has achieved her goal of gaining eternal "Perfect Knowledge." Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service to follow, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
