I grew up watching and listening to Ed on WBRZ and WJBO. Disagreed with 90% of what the man had to say on political issues, but there is no denying his extraordinary broadcasting talents, his friendliness, just his downright ability to have a conversation. It is obvious he could have been successful at the national level doing so many different things, but he still got to live a pretty great life. He will go down as a Baton Rouge legend. Rest in peace, my brother!

To the Buggs Family:
I to like many others was a follower of Ed on local television. After, TV I followed him with his local radio show, and then I followed him on his web page. Ed wasn't afraid to discuss the issues and that's what I liked about his reporting. He could and would discuss it all. Now that's good journalism. Rest in Peace.

Ed was one of the many people who helped me when Katrina hit and my daughter had a stroke in the same year. Ed was an inspiration to me to hold everything together that God would do for me what I could not do for myself. There were many conversations that held us both together and made us brother and sister in Gods family. I will miss seeing him sitting next to me in meetings. Ed--thank you for loving me unconditionally and teaching me how to let people in so the pain would subside. Thank you for helping me when my daughter was sick. I will miss you. I love you my brother.

What a beautiful person Ed Buggs was. He spoke so well and knew what he was doing. When I first saw him, many years ago, I thought to myself, "that's a guy going somewhere". Little did I know at the time the impact he would have on so many lives. He was a great role model for our young children. I didn't know him personally but the hurt couldn't be any greater. He was a young man any parent would be proud to have had
as a son. May you rest in peace Ed, you served your purpose here on earth. A job "Well Done".

I remember being in band with Ed and doing Up The Down Staircase as well as the journalism classes we took together at LSU. Whenever I'd run into Ed I'd get that warm smile and hug. We were looking forward to having him at our Glen Oaks reunion, but He had other plans. Rest in peace Ed, though I must admit I feel a bit angry that you left us far too soon.

To Mrs. Hazel Buggs And Family

How do we begin to tell you, of the hurt we are feeling at this time.

When we learned of the passing of Ed, it was really unbelieveable. I know, we all must travel this path but when its someone that has made a great impact on your life it really hurts.

Ed was such, a loving and a kind down to earth person but most of all he was intelligent.

He played for us at Greater King David Baptist Church. He was really good, at eveything that he did.

We just want to thank you and your family, for giving us the pleasure to have known such an outstanding person. He has made a great impact on our lives and we will never forget him.

He will truly be missed. Just know that when you retun to your daily routine and friends and family go their seperate ways, God will be there every step of the way he will never leave you he will see you through this most difficult time. He is only a prayer away.

Ed Buggs lived an amazing life. He jumped over obstacles and knocked down walls to become the first African-American television anchor in Baton Rouge. I had the good fortune to grow up with him. Even as young man, Ed knew how to tell a story, convey an idea, or captivate a crowd. His success inspired us all. My heartfelt condolences to his entire family. We thank them for sharing Ed with us.

The people we love and admire are never really gone. They live on in our hearts and memories. Ed has simply moved up to a higher channel.

Ed was indeed gifted! He created many great memories from his days in television and radio. Ed was always approachable, extremely talented, and quite the gentleman. Those who knew him personally would understand that he rarely spoke the word 'no' when asked to assist in community events. I fondly remember the key role he played in Baton Rouge by using his gift for good.

I'm saddened at the news of his death, and pray that his family finds comfort in the fact that he is finally at peace with his maker.

My prayers go out to all of the Buggs family. What an inspiration Ed was to the community!!! He spoke truth no matter if it was ugly or not, and he allowed others to rejoice with him in his victories and comfort him in his trials. Clarence, hearing your voice is an echo of your brother's and I know how proud he is of you today. The angels rejoice at his homecoming and "Sarge" (who I feel like I knew through both of the Buggs' talk shows) is enjoying his reunion. May God bless and keep you until you all reunite in Heaven.

My heart goes out to Ed's family. Miss Hazel, I became friends with Ed at GOHS where we sat side-by-side in band for two years. I had the pleasure of getting to know you and Sarge at that time. He treasured his family and friends. Ed and I reconnected through Facebook a couple of years ago and we talked about our mutual love of Jesus Christ and what He had done in our lives. I know that Ed is playing his clarinet in that Heavenly band right now. My prayers are with you all.

When I first heard Edward Buggs and Huel Perkins having a discussion, I said to myself, "Those two guys talk like they should be on TV!" That was back in elementary school.when he was "Edward."

We were all very proud to finally see someone who not only looked like us but was really one of us on the local TV news. Ed represented well, with his professional on-air manner and his eloquence of speech. Yet whenever I saw him in person, he was very down-to-earth and easy to talk to whether he knew you or not. He made everyone feel like a close friend. When I last saw him at the Mount Pilgrim BC Homecoming we talked about his Facebook page. So many people had signed in to be added to his friends list at one time that the FaceBook admins became suspicious enough to block the page! He had to write to the admins to explain and have his page reopened.

Now, as I visit that page, it is a testimony to that approachable nature as it is filled with numerous messages from people who loved him dearly.
To Mrs. Buggs and Clarence, our church family, I send condolences from the Nichols' & Michael's as we pray you are comforted in the promise Our Heavenly Father has set in His Word--that this life is a puff of smoke. The next is eternal where there will be no more separations-- as this separation is quite temporary. So instead of "Good bye" I will say "See you later, Ed!"

God bless you all!
