Elzie L. "Bubba" Beard, Sr.

Elzie L. 'Bubba' Beard, Sr., age 83, met his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 10, 2018. A Native of Big Sandy, Texas, and a long-time resident of Baker, LA. He was a graduate of Big Sandy High School and after attending Jr. College in Tyler, Texas, he enlisted in the Army where he served 2 years in the tank division in Korea. In 1959 he married the love of his life, Connie Turner. In 1962 he was employed with Crown Zellerbach Papermill and retired from there in 1997. He spent his retirement years traveling, hunting, camping, & fishing. He is survived by his three children, Elzie Beard, Jr., wife Lezlie, Connie Lynne Belgard, husband David, and Jennifer Lee Winward, husband David; eight grandchildren, Carol Alissa Lapp, Adam Alexander Beard, David Michael Belgard, Mathew Garrett Belgard, Mary Frances Belgard, Katherine Gail Simmons, Korinne Adell Simmons, and Kristofer Glen Simmons; five great-grandchildren, Brantlee Robert Simmons, Ayden Paul Simmons, Rhyann Anthony Rosenbach, Jayli Alissa Rosenbach & Brantley Tyler Brown; and a sister, Mary A. Heard. He is preceded in death by his wife, Corinne 'Connie' Beard; and his parents, Elzie 'Ed' & Mary Lee Beard. Pallbearers are Michael Belgard, Mathew Belgard, Adam Beard, Kristofer Simmons, Mack Boyte & David Winward. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Hughes, Marshall Pruyn & Richie Bullock. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Friday, July 13, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Reverend Jay Avance. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation in Elzie's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
