George Stephens Obituary

George William "Bill" Stephens was born in East Point, Louisiana, on December 26, 1929, to Joel Jesse and Mary Inez Stephens. He passed away on October 14, 2024, at age 94 and was a resident of Mandeville, LA. Bill graduated from Baton Rouge High and LSU, served in the United States Air Force, and became an architect. He was a member of AIA, an avid golfer, and a devoted fan of LSU Football. He was also an artist. Bill is survived by his sons, Jeff (Jan), Bert (Robyn), Greg (Margarita), Mitch (Mindy); grandchildren, Marie Gateley (Cody), Jesse Stephens, Nicole Machol (Kyle), Elisa Edwards (Paul), Justin Rogers (Tiffani), Courtney Stephens, James Stephens, and Mathew Rogers; great grandchildren, Caleb Gately, Olivia Machol, Adaline Machol, Cash Rogers, and Emrys Edwards; and sister, Bobbie Ann Trageser. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline; parents, and his siblings, Ulysses, Joel V., Jessie, Blanche, Ruby, Mildred, and Aubrey; and son, George Matthew. A memorial service for Bill be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Saturday, October 19, at 3 pm, with visitation starting at 1 pm. Bill's family would like to thank his caregivers: Brittany, Leslie, and Carla of Interim Hospice and Amy, Nikki, and the staff of Windsor Senior Living.
