John Vallot Jr. Obituary

John Douglas Vallot, Jr. "Jay" entered his eternal home on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the age of 81. Jay grew up in Sulphur, LA. He attended LSU, and then began a career at DOW Chemical, where he retired as a Project Manager after over 30 years of service. He proudly served as the Secretary for Industry of Faith, a faith-based nonprofit founded by his son, for the past seven years. He was a resident of Central for the past 49 years in the home he built with his own hands. In Jay's lifetime he enjoyed dozens of hobbies. Some included dirt bike racing, wood working, car building, playing guitar and keyboard, and gardening. He was a "Jack of all trades" and could build or fix anything, so that much of his time over the years was spent helping his sons with home projects and repairs and building furniture to fill their homes. Jay spent countless hours creating treasured videos of his grandchildren's special events throughout their childhood, where he always had a front row seat. In his later years, he spent time in his home studio creating music with his keyboard and computer programs. Jay will be remembered for his strong but kind voice, hardworking but gentle hands, and a heart that loved Jesus and his family so deeply. There is no doubt he heard the words, "Well done thy good and faithful servant" as he crossed his earthly finish line as a faithful follower and humble servant of Christ. Jay is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose "Diane" Vallot; sons, Jeff and wife, Kim, and Dan and wife, Ashley; grandchildren, Mandi Vallot Schexnayder and husband, Conrad, Brayden, Chase, Addi, and Noah Vallot. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Lillian Vallot; and brother, Kermit "Joe" Vallot. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 11am until the time of funeral services at 2pm, conducted by Rev. Tommy Jackson and Dan Vallot. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brayden Vallot, Chase Vallot, Noah Vallot, Robbie Vallot, Jackie Mullins, and Carrol Culbreath. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bridgeway Hospice for their kindness and care during Jay's going home journey.
